PGS Worldwide is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer CNC Machining in Andover, Massachusetts for an approximately six-month onsite contract-to-hire role supporting a leading aerospace & defense company. This position will develop and improve manufacturing processes for complex 3D metal components, with responsibility for CNC programming, tooling and fixturing, inspection planning, process documentation, and production troubleshooting.
Required Skills
Bachelor's degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related discipline.
5+ years of relevant manufacturing engineering experience.
Knowledge of high-speed machining techniques.
Knowledge of cutting tools and CNC machine capabilities.
5+ years of experience interpreting engineering drawings.
Strong working knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).
Experience developing manufacturing processes for machined components.
Experience translating engineering design requirements into manufacturing process documentation.
Experience developing tooling, fixturing, or work-holding solutions.
Experience creating or supporting CNC machining programs.
Experience developing inspection plans and manufacturing work instructions.
Experience troubleshooting manufacturing and production issues.
Ability to perform Root Cause and Corrective Action activities.
Strong communication and cross-functional collaboration skills.
U.S. citizenship required.
Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. security clearance.
Preferred Skills
CNC programming experience for machines with four or more axes.
ICAM post-processor development experience.
Creo CAD/CAM experience.
CGTech Vericut experience.
CIMCO Edit experience.
Experience with machining simulation and analysis tools.
Experience with paint, plating, and structural assembly processes.
Experience integrating automated part-handling or in-machine work-holding solutions.
Experience with Statistical Process Control (SPC).
Experience applying Six Sigma or similar continuous-improvement methodologies.
Strong hands-on mechanical aptitude.
What You'll Do
Develop comprehensive manufacturing processes for complex machined metal components.
Define raw materials, tooling, fixtures, and work-holding requirements.
Create and optimize multi-axis CNC machining programs.
Develop inspection plans, finishing requirements, and operator instructions.
Translate engineering requirements into formal manufacturing documentation.
Support new product introductions and accelerated production transitions.
Review metrology and SPC data to identify process risks and potential defects.
Validate NC programs using tools such as Vericut and CIMCO Edit.
Troubleshoot manufacturing issues with Quality and Operations personnel.
Disposition nonconforming hardware.
Perform Root Cause and Corrective Action activities.
Improve process capability, cost, quality, and production efficiency.
Support existing production while managing non-recurring engineering and improvement projects.
Communicate technical issues, schedule risks, and progress to Engineering and Operations leadership.
Work Schedule / Shift
Full-time onsite in Andover, Massachusetts.
Initial training on first shift with a 7:00 AM start.
Expected transition to third shift, 10:00 PM 6:00 AM, after approximately one month.
Pay
$73.73 per hour.
