Position Summary
We are seeking a skilled and motivated Manufacturing Engineer with CNC machining experience to support our manufacturing operations and drive continuous improvement initiatives. This position is responsible for developing, implementing, and optimizing CNC machining processes to improve productivity, quality, safety, and cost performance. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in CNC machining, process development, tooling, fixture design, and lean manufacturing principles.
Essential Responsibilities
• Develop, implement, and optimize CNC machining processes for new and existing products.
• Evaluate and improve manufacturing methods, work instructions, tooling, fixtures, and equipment to maximize efficiency and quality.
• Support new product launches through process development, equipment validation, and production readiness activities.
• Analyze machining operations to reduce cycle times, improve throughput, and minimize scrap and rework.
• Collaborate with Production, Quality, Maintenance, and Supply Chain teams to resolve manufacturing issues and improve performance.
• Lead root cause analysis and corrective action activities utilizing tools such as 8D, 5 Why, Fishbone Diagrams, and PFMEA.
• Develop and maintain process documentation, including standard operating procedures, process flow diagrams, control plans, and work instructions.
• Support CNC programming improvements and collaborate with programmers and operators to optimize machining performance.
• Identify and implement automation, error-proofing, and continuous improvement opportunities.
• Participate in capital equipment projects, including equipment selection, installation, startup, validation, and process acceptance.
• Monitor and analyze production metrics to improve Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE), quality, and cost performance.
• Ensure compliance with safety, environmental, and quality standards.
• Provide technical training and support to production personnel as needed.
Required Qualifications
• Bachelor's degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related technical field.
• Minimum of 3 years of manufacturing engineering experience in a CNC machining environment.
• Strong knowledge of CNC machining processes, including milling, turning, drilling, and multi-axis machining.
• Experience with cutting tools, tooling selection, fixturing, and process optimization.
• Understanding of GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing) and engineering drawings.
• Experience with root cause analysis and continuous improvement methodologies.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
• Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
Preferred Qualifications
• 5+ years of CNC manufacturing engineering experience in a high-volume manufacturing environment.
• Experience with CAD/CAM software such as Mastercam, SolidWorks, AutoCAD, NX, or Creo.
• Familiarity with Fanuc, Haas, Mazak, Okuma, or similar CNC controls.
• Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, and Kaizen methodologies.
• Experience with APQP, PPAP, PFMEA, Control Plans, and SPC.
• Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt certification.
• Experience with automation, robotics, and Industry 4.0 technologies.
• Knowledge of ISO 9001 and/or IATF 16949 quality systems.
Physical Requirements
• Ability to work in a manufacturing environment around machining equipment and moving machinery.
