We are looking for a Manufacturing Engineer support our team at our location in Cranston, RI.

Position Overview:

The Manufacturing Engineer supports EMI Industries' manufacturing operations by developing and maintaining manufacturing standards, facilitating integration between production and engineering teams, implementing and optimizing programming systems, and supporting research and development initiatives. This role partners with engineering, quality, and operations to drive continuous improvement, resolve process and system issues, and ensure efficient, high-quality production in a custom millwork, metal fabrication, and store fixtures environment.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Maintain and develop manufacturing standards and processes to ensure consistent, repeatable, and high-quality production outcomes across all departments.
  • Apply equipment and process limitations when developing or reviewing manufacturing procedures; ensure all processes are feasible, safe, and efficient given available equipment and materials.
  • Define and maintain design best practices for manufacturability; collaborate with engineering during design reviews to ensure products can be produced effectively and cost-efficiently.
  • Apply quality data, metrics, and inspection results to identify trends and support continuous improvement initiatives throughout manufacturing operations.
  • Provide Engineering Change Notice (ECN) and Manufacturing Design Intent (MDI) feedback and support corrective actions to ensure engineering changes are implemented smoothly and without disruption to production.
  • Support Quality Engineering in root cause corrective action (RCCA) processes for production-related non-conformances and quality issues.
  • Identify system and process failures in manufacturing operations; develop and implement effective solutions to restore performance and prevent recurrence.
  • Implement, maintain, and optimize CNC and other manufacturing programming systems to support production requirements and output quality.
  • In conjunction with Programming, create and maintain best practices for consistency, accuracy, and operational efficiency across all applicable equipment and systems.
  • Manage and improve manufacturing systems and processes in support of production goals and cost savings initiatives.
  • Develop and maintain machine operation standards and programs; document procedures to ensure operators follow consistent and safe practices.
  • Establish and document machine settings, parameters, and calibration/accuracy requirements; coordinate with maintenance and operations to ensure equipment is properly maintained and performing within specification.
  • Lead and support the implementation of new equipment, materials, and process technologies; evaluate options, manage trials, and document outcomes.
  • Develop and deploy new manufacturing systems; drive best practice improvements and standardization across the facility.
  • Provide training and coaching on manufacturing processes and machinery.
  • Perform capacity analysis and create improvement plans.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support business needs.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related technical field, or equivalent work experience.
  • Experience with manufacturing process development, documentation, and continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Proficiency with programming, and automation.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with exceptional attention to detail.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills; ability to work effectively across cross-functional teams including engineering, quality, and operations.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications; experience with ERP systems and manufacturing software preferred.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
  • Self-motivated and capable of working both independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.

Education and/or Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or equivalent preferred.
  • Minimum of two (2) years of manufacturing engineering experience in a production environment preferred.
  • Experience in millwork, metal fabrication, food service equipment, retail fixtures, or similar industries is considered an asset.
  • Proficiency with Lean manufacturing, Six Sigma, or similar continuous improvement methodologies.

Physical Demands:

  • While performing duties of this job, the employee is required to talk and hear. The position involves periods of standing, walking, and use of hands to handle or operate tools and equipment. The employee may occasionally lift/carry objects up to 25 pounds with or without assistance during inspection or material handling activities. The employee is also required to reach with hands and arms, stoop, kneel, or crouch as needed. Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. Minimal travel may be required for training, inter-site support, or supplier visits.
