The role
We are seeking a hands-on Manufacturing Engineer to support manufacturing operations through process improvement, equipment optimization, engineering change management, and continuous improvement initiatives. This role is responsible for improving production efficiency, supporting quality and safety standards, and maintaining manufacturing documentation and process controls.
This position is based on-site at our Detroit – Kettering facility and reports to the Engineering and Facilities Manager as part of the Engineering team.
What You’ll Do
- Support production operations by reducing downtime, improving process flow, and minimizing scrap
• Develop and maintain manufacturing documentation including Process Flow, PFMEA, SOPs, and line balance studies
• Analyze labor content, ergonomics, and manufacturing processes to improve efficiency and productivity
• Support engineering changes, tooling implementation, and continuous improvement initiatives
• Maintain and support error-proofing systems, process controls, and quality containment activities
Who you are
- Associate degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, or related technical field preferred, or equivalent manufacturing experience
• Minimum one (1) year of experience in manufacturing and assembly operations
• Experience with process development, PFMEA, standardized work, and engineering change management
• Working knowledge of PLC systems, torque equipment, manufacturing tooling, and assembly processes
• Proficiency with AutoCAD and Microsoft Office applications including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
Health, Safety, Physical & Travel Requirements
- Ability to work in both office and manufacturing plant environments
• Frequent standing, walking, and movement throughout production areas
• Ability to use computers and standard office equipment regularly
• Must follow all company safety procedures and emergency evacuation requirements
• Approximately 20% travel required with a valid driver’s license
