Qualifications:

  • BS in Mechanical Engineering and/or Electrical Engineering degree with emphasis towards Manufacturing
  • Minimum 7+ years of actual "hands-on" job experience in professional work/manufacturing environment
  • Experience and thorough understanding in working with PLCs and controls such as sensors, pneumatics, hydraulics, and vision systems with ability to program
  • Experience with DFMA, SPC, FMEA, and DOE
  • Proficiency in 3D solid modeling/2D drafting CAD software (SolidWorks preferred)
  • Knowledge of KPPs (Key Performance Parameters), KPIs (Key Performance Indicators), and KPCs (Key Product Characteristics)
  • Good working knowledge of mechanical control devices including pushbuttons, limit switches, level switches, pneumatics, hydraulics, and aluminum framework for machine builds
  • Good working knowledge of electrical device control including PLCs, solenoids, sensors, motors, and vision systems
  • Ability to travel as required (5-10%)
  • Knowledge of ASTM test methods a plus

Responsibilities:

  • Lead Manufacturing Engineering projects on the floor associated with R&D line trials for rubber and plastic extrusion products
  • Provide DFMA (design for manufacturing assembly) guidance and development of cost-effective, high-volume manufacturing, assembly, and packaging methods
  • Design and improve work-cells and fixtures as required
  • Work with mechanical control devices including pushbuttons, limit switches, pneumatics, hydraulics, and aluminum framework
  • Implement and program electrical control systems including PLCs, solenoids, sensors, motors, and vision systems
