Manufacturing Engineer - EV Battery Pack Manufacturing
Position Summary
We are seeking a Manufacturing Engineer with experience in EV battery pack manufacturing to support the development, validation, and launch of battery pack production systems. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with battery pack assembly, manufacturing process development, equipment implementation, automation, PFMEA development, and production launches in high-volume automotive environments.
Qualifications
Bachelor"s degree in Engineering or related field.
5+ years of battery pack manufacturing experience required; 10+ years preferred.
Experience supporting battery pack programs at OEMs such as Tesla, Rivian, Ford, GM, Lucid, or similar.
Strong knowledge of:
Battery pack assembly and manufacturing processes
PFMEA, Control Plans, Process Flows, and Quality Systems
Automation, equipment specification, testing, and commissioning
Manufacturing layouts and production line development
Extensive experience with 21700 cylindrical cells and high-volume DFM considerations preferred.
Key Responsibilities
Design for Manufacturing (DFM)
Provide DFM feedback on joining methods, thermal management, sealing, testing, and assembly processes.
Conduct manufacturability and packaging studies to support product design decisions.
Identify critical product characteristics and establish quality requirements.
Manufacturing Process Development
Develop and implement manufacturing processes, equipment specifications, and production layouts.
Lead PFMEA development, process validation, design reviews, and launch readiness activities.
Define manufacturing quality criteria and process controls.
CapEx & Manufacturing Strategy
Develop CapEx estimates for tooling, fixtures, assembly equipment, and test systems.
Create manufacturing strategies, plant layouts, capacity plans, and process documentation.
Assess manufacturing risks and support production planning activities.
Vendor & Prototype Build Support
Develop RFQs and evaluate equipment vendors, integrators, and prototype suppliers.
Support prototype and validation builds to assess manufacturability and production readiness.
Define EOL testing strategies, inspection plans, and prototype assembly tooling requirements.
Preferred Experience
Laser welding, ultrasonic welding, leak testing, and automated assembly systems.
Battery pack production launches from prototype through high-volume manufacturing.
Cross-functional collaboration with product design, quality, operations, and equipment suppliers.

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $60.00 - $75.00/hr.
