Trak group is partnering with a growing manufacturing client seeking a Manufacturing Engineer to improve the safety, quality, reliability, and efficiency of manufacturing operations. This hands-on position will provide daily shop floor support while leading continuous improvement, automated assembly optimization, equipment and tooling development, new product launches, and root cause analysis.
The Manufacturing Engineer will work closely with Quality, Maintenance, Product Engineering, Logistics, and Operations to resolve production challenges, reduce downtime, improve OEE, and successfully integrate new products and technologies into existing manufacturing operations.
Responsibilities
Provide hands-on engineering support for daily manufacturing and shop floor operations.
Lead continuous improvement projects focused on equipment, manufacturing processes, safety, quality, and productivity.
Optimize production flow, machining and assembly methods, staffing plans, tooling, and production equipment.
Troubleshoot manufacturing processes and equipment issues and implement sustainable corrective actions.
Analyze OEE, production downtime, and root causes to identify and implement productivity improvements.
Provide rapid-response technical support for unplanned downtime and recurring equipment issues.
Apply structured root cause analysis and implement corrective and preventive actions to improve line stability.
Develop, maintain, and continuously improve standardized work instructions and manufacturing procedures.
Design and optimize workplace layouts to improve material flow, ergonomics, and production efficiency.
Design, validate, implement, and sustain specialized tooling and production equipment.
Partner with Maintenance on preventive maintenance strategies, equipment reliability, and spare parts planning.
Lead cross-functional teams in developing and maintaining PFMEAs.
Train manufacturing operators and engineering technicians on work instructions, changeovers, preventive maintenance, and processing techniques.
Partner with Product Engineering to determine optimal manufacturing processes and tooling.
Research and introduce new manufacturing technologies and techniques.
Lead the integration of new products into existing manufacturing operations, including process development and design for manufacturability.
Own manufacturing readiness for new product launches through process validation, pilot builds, production scaling, and implementation of appropriate controls.
Coordinate cross-functionally to ensure new products are introduced with minimal disruption to current production.
Develop manufacturing expertise and standardized best practices for specialized product technologies.
Mentor team members and help build long-term technical capabilities within the engineering organization.
Support a strong safety culture and ensure compliance with applicable safety and environmental requirements.
Significant manufacturing engineering experience within a production environment.
Strong knowledge of automated assembly processes.
Experience providing hands-on engineering support directly on the manufacturing floor.
Strong process troubleshooting and root cause analysis capabilities.
Experience improving manufacturing processes, production equipment, tooling, and workflow.
Experience analyzing manufacturing performance metrics such as OEE and downtime.
Strong understanding of Lean Manufacturing principles, including 6S, Kaizen, Kanban, and SMED.
Experience with PFMEA and structured continuous improvement methodologies.
Working knowledge of 2D and 3D CAD software.
Ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical documentation, customer specifications, and industry standards.
Experience supporting equipment qualification, process validation, and manufacturing readiness.
Strong project management skills with the ability to manage projects from planning through implementation.
Data-driven analytical and problem-solving skills.
Ability to work independently while effectively collaborating with Operations, Maintenance, Quality, Engineering, and Logistics.
Strong written, verbal, presentation, and interpersonal communication skills.
Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering;equivalent technical training and experience may be considered.
Experience leading new product introduction (NPI) and manufacturing launches.
Experience developing processes for automated or specialized manufacturing equipment.
Tooling and production equipment design experience.
Design for Manufacturability (DFM) experience.
Experience with pilot builds and scaling new processes into full production.
Experience improving equipment reliability and developing preventive maintenance strategies.
Experience communicating technical information to suppliers and customers.
Previous experience training or mentoring manufacturing operators, technicians, or engineers.
