Manufacturing Engineer to work onsite at Hill Air Force Base in Layton, Utah.
Period of performance will be 6 months working 40 hours/week.
US citizenship is required as the person will be working at Hill AFB. The hiring manager is Logan Zundel.
Background
The Logistics Services (LS) team supports the United States Air Force (USAF) Hill Air
Force Base (HAFB) Depot's Public Private Partnership (Hill AFB PBL) contract, the largest
repair and overhaul contract at Services and Support Operations today. The current
Manufacturing Engineering position scope and workload were originally handled by two
Manufacturing Engineers, of which we currently have one.
Our current engineer will be to shift focus towards Assembly and Test Support: Existing
test stand repair or improvement, Identifying test equipment opportunities, Support
implementation and use of new STE (special test equipment) program at Hill, testing
documentation review and alignment (Parker OM/CMM to USAF TO), while still supporting all
ME functions as backup.
This ME role opening is to target Production Support: BOM maintenance, Core Material
inspection/evaluation, communicating and establishing processes with supporting Parker
Aerospace divisions as needed, reviewing assets at induction for accuracy, aiding with asset
inventory maintenance (G & J jobs), writing rework travelers, reviewing prints and drawings to
support Quality and Sustainment, and working alongside depot partners to drive process
improvement and resolution to production issues.
Position Summary
This ME role will work alongside the Parker PBL depot partner (Hill AFB), supporting
Parker Aerospace divisions, and within our tight-knit Parker PBL team to maintain processes
and procedures that support timely delivery of quality parts to the warfighter for our customer,
the USAF. Aiding with material control, identifying process improvements, aiding with Kaizen
and Lean team initiatives, building a business understanding of our unique model, and being
able to handle customer & partner interactions on a daily basis are all key components and
required at the highest level to support the team. This requires upholding all ethical and
confidential information from exposure within the working business model of supporting the
USAF.
Level and Period of Performance
Anticipate requiring one (1) Manufacturing Engineering Technician for 40 hours weekly
for an initial period of 6 months. The effort is performed on Hill Air Force Base in Layton, Utah,
and the ability to meet base access standards is required.

Scope of Work
To provide Manufacturing Engineering support typical of an Aerospace MRO environment in
support of the Parker Hill PBL. This role will assist with taking over key material and process
flow tasks currently handled by the primary ME. The hired individual will need to complete the
following services:
1) General Responsibilities
a. Manufacturing Process Flow – Plans, documents, and creates travelers for
manufacturing processes and routes to establish and improve the refurbishment of
existing products.
b. Process Improvement - Develops and implements process improvement projects
that focus on manufacturing efficiency, material yield, safety, and cost. May lead
small teams in developing and implementing process improvement efforts.
c. Process Improvement - Participate in Kaizen events, and implement LEAN principles
and technologies
d. Engineering Support - Provides guidance to engineering leadership regarding design
concepts and specification requirements to best utilize equipment and manufacturing
techniques.
e. Engineering Support - Reads, analyzes, and interprets legacy and new engineering
drawings, technical manuals and policies and recommends changes to procedures.
Uses technical drawings and data to identify and validate material conformity or
repair requirements.
f. Engineering Support - Collaborates with cross-functional teams to learn and share
best practices. Maintains an understanding of industry standards and trends to
improve processes within primary work area.
g. Engineering Support - Communicates with supplier management, logistics
specialists, and material buyers for part acquisition activities.
h. Regulatory Compliance – Investigates and proposes changes to processes and
procedures to improve consistency across organization and partnerships. Ensures
that procedures comply with regulations.
i. Remediation - Investigates and suggests corrective action to ensure product quality,
and to resolve quality issues.
j. Performs additional responsibilities as assigned
2) Contractual Responsibilities
a. Understands and complies with all company and contract order processing
requirements.
b. Resolve all order processing issues and concerns in a timely manner.
c. Basic understanding of FAR and DFAR requirements.
3) Candidate Requirements
a. Bachelor's degree (BS) in Manufacturing or similar engineering discipline, with two or
more years of experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience
that has provided both theoretical and practical knowledge in an Aerospace
manufacturing setting.
