The Manufacturing Engineer develops and supports manufacturing strategies, plans and
processes to sustain and improve productivity. Serves as a technical liaison between Operations and other functional groups to identify and resolve problem processes and products. Ensures all products produced that are made for commercialization meet the Company’s stringent quality benchmarks and regulatory requirements.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Provide engineering support, daily trouble shooting support and suggestions for process improvement to Operations.
- Work daily on production floor with Operators, Technicians, Maintenance, and other functional SMEs to quickly resolve production issues as a high priority and escalating to leadership when appropriate.
- Utilize engineering skills to identify cost savings opportunities through labor hour reduction and lowering scrap & waste.
- Ensure cooperation and alignment between Manufacturing and Quality Assurance, Quality Control, and other relevant functional areas.
- Review and refine as needed key performance metrics and monitor performance to ensure that progress is being made and corrective action, if necessary, is promptly taken.
- Create/edit/maintain necessary Engineering documentation as assigned by Engineering Manager.
- Evaluate, implement, and monitor processes and operating systems for the manufacture of Thorne Research’s products. Including the development of product BoMs and Routings.
- Provide engineering support, as required for new manufacturing equipment specifications.
- Develop, review, and/or approve documents as defined by SOP and/or assigned.
WHAT YOU NEED
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical or Industrial Engineering is required.
- At least 1+ years’ related experience in an FDA-regulated environment is required.
- Experience with ISO and/or cGMP standards is required.
- A good understanding of manufacturing principles and practices, machinery and equipment, quality and regulatory requirements, key performance metrics and measurements.
- Comfortable with interacting with company leadership, staff, and third parties.
