Responsible for the monitoring and maintenance of technical aspects of the assembly process, the design and/or validation of equipment, and planning the manufacturing processes in a designated area of the manufacturing plant.Responsibilities:Design of manufacturing systems with the focus on continuous improvement related to quality and throughput capability of the assembly equipment.Maintenance of process documentation, including operator instructions / visual aids, PFMEAs, process flow diagrams, and error proofing plans.Analysis of proposals for new machinery and equipment.Assists / leads in the evaluation and qualification of new machinery and equipment.Provide technical support for plant operations.Assists / leads the development and implementation of major Capital Appropriations Projects.Support the development of cost estimates for new and major programs, often working from early concept cross sections, concept drawings, concurrent engineering discussions, and evolving assumptions.Provides a physical presence in the workplace.Support of production systems to include continuous improvement, updates to existing equipment to maintain serviceabilityFamiliarity with torquing systems, electrical and hydraulic press applications, automatic assembly, error-proofing, vision systems, and robotic applicationsExperience:Education Requirement: Bachelor's degree or equivalent experienceRequired:Minimum of 3+ years' experience required.High level of analytical ability.Good written and oral communication skills, including regular and effective communication across functions and with Senior Management.The ability to work effectively in a cross functional group setting, including work with Senior Management.The ability to work independently, and to coach and mentor others.The ability to multitask.The ability to consider business impact beyond a specific functional area.The ability to provide relevant, essential technical guidance to support Senior Management.CAD proficiency (preferably NX and/or AutoCAD).Strong computer skills, including MS Office.An understanding of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing.An understanding of machine tool specifications, construction and maintenance, including the ability to document this knowledge in RFQ packages and Best Practice documents, and to participate in specification revisions.Experience with statistical qualification of machinery, equipment, and gages, and the ability to improve and document our methods for completing these tasks.Preferred:Experience in working effectively with hourly employees in a manufacturing environment.Formal problem-solving training.Familiarity with QS and TS quality systems requirements.An understanding of lean manufacturing concepts.Specific specialized skills, including CNC programming, CMM programming, nutrunner programming, robotic programming, ladder logic, etc.An understanding of transmission fundamentals.Experience in a manufacturing assembly environmentExperience in implementation of major production launches (entire production lines or plants).Allison Transmission is an equal opportunity employer.
