Summary: A successful Manufacturing Engineer III is responsible for advanced line support to maintain manufacturing performance and project management driving strategic initiatives focused on automation, process optimization and scalable production methods to support company growth. This is a hands-on position. This salary, exempt, position reports to the Manufacturing Manager and works closely with shop operators, maintenance technician, plant support services and plant leadership.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Lead technical, and engineering support for maintenance and production employees to identify and implement sustainable solutions to meet safety, quality, and production objectives
  • Lead root cause analysis and implementation of long-term solutions to prevent recurrences, manage KPI's including run hours, MTBF, and cost to repair
  • Focus on equipment and systems upgrades in safety, quality, cost reductions, productivity
  • Overall responsibility for strategic Lean Initiatives within the Portland facility.
  • Support strategic Quality Initiatives, with a focus on implementing robust quality checks within automated processes.
  • Confer with Supply Chain Manager and Quality Supervisor on quality issues related to purchased and machined components.
  • Design and develop manufacturing processes for enhancements, product changes, and new products, and related fixtures and tooling that are consistent with zero defect level and low product cost.
  • Design, implement, and maintain advanced manufacturing systems and automation equipment to increase throughput and capacity.
  • Develop, evaluate, improve, and document manufacturing processes, with a continuous focus on scalability to meet expanding production demands..
  • Develop and implement process control techniques and procedures.
  • Continually analyze manufacturing process flows for the enhancements of quality, cost reduction, and throughput.
  • Collaborate with design engineering regarding product tooling and design to ensure effectual production methods and design for manufacturability (DFM) in a high-growth environment..
  • Estimate staffing requirements, production times, and relative costs to provide data for operational decisions forecasting future equipment and personnel needs for expansion. .
  • Provide engineering support in the production department to troubleshoot and resolve technical problems.
  • Complete administrative responsibilities including meetings, reports, goals, training, budgets, financials, and expenses to targets and expectations
  • Support company policies and procedures, goals and objectives and good manufacturing practices.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Manufacturing Engineering or Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field from an accredited college.
  • Minimum 5 years manufacturing experience in a manufacturing environment preferably within an expanding facility or high-growth machine shop setting.
  • Strong cross-functional team communication, presentation skills and interpersonal skills
  • Six Sigma Black/Green Belt preferred
  • Lean Manufacturing Experience.
  • ERP systems experience, Epicor experience preferred
  • Machine shop experience running and setting up CNC mills and lathes
  • CNC Programming knowledge and experience, Solid Cam and G-code preferred.
  • Familiarity with PLC programming (Allen-Bradley, Siemens, etc.) and industrial networking protocols is highly desirable.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to lift 35 pounds.
  • Prolonged periods standing.
  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
