Job Title: Manufacturing Engineer

Pay Rate: $38.00-45.00/hour

Location: Indianapolis, IN 46217

Area Code: 317

Job Summary:

The Manufacturing Engineer supports daily production operations by partnering with Quality, Engineering, and Operations to ensure safe, compliant, and efficient manufacturing processes. This is a hands-on, floor-focused role responsible for real-time problem solving, root cause analysis, corrective actions, and maintaining manufacturing documentation in a manual or non-standard ERP environment.

This role also requires obtaining Process Release (PR) certification to support final inspection and product release activities. The ideal candidate thrives in a fast-paced production setting and can support multiple product lines.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide hands-on support on the production floor to ensure smooth manufacturing execution
  • Partner with Quality to support MRB activities, nonconforming material disposition, and case documentation
  • Perform root cause analysis (5-Why, Fishbone, data-driven) and implement corrective actions
  • Create and maintain manufacturing documentation (routers, travelers, work instructions)
  • Interpret engineering drawings, GD&T, and manufacturability requirements
  • Support inspection activities, including use of measurement tools and coordination with CMM teams
  • Obtain and maintain Process Release (PR) certification and support final inspection approval
  • Validate manufacturing readiness and documentation prior to product release
  • Drive process improvements in safety, quality, and throughput
  • Work within manual tracking systems (spreadsheets, paper-based records)
  • Collaborate cross-functionally across Production, Quality, Engineering, and Supply Chain
  • Support multiple product lines and flexible production needs, including extended hours/weekends as required

Required Qualifications:

  • Experience in an aerospace manufacturing shop floor environment
  • Strong ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, including GD&T
  • Experience with root cause analysis and corrective action methods
  • Background in creating and maintaining manufacturing documentation
  • Proficiency with hand measurement tools (calipers, micrometers, gauges)
  • Willingness to obtain and operate under Process Release (PR) certification
  • Strong attention to detail and documentation discipline
  • Ability to work effectively in a manual or non-standard ERP environment
  • Strong communication skills and comfort working on the shop floor
  • Due to the nature of the work US Citizenship is required

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor"s degree in Engineering or related field (or equivalent experience)
  • Familiarity with MRB processes and quality disposition workflows
  • Prior experience with final inspection or product release authority
  • Exposure to CMM inspection and inspection planning
  • Experience with Lean manufacturing or continuous improvement initiatives
  • Flexibility to support second shift and weekend coverage

Salary guidelines for similar roles at Belcan are $38.00-45.00 per hour. Guidelines vary based on many factors including but not limited to education, qualifications, experience, discipline, geographic location, market, and business considerations.
