Manufacturing Engineer - Electroless Plating & Waste Treatment
Position Summary
The Manufacturing Engineer - Electroless Plating & Waste Treatment serves as process owner for electroless plating and waste treatment operations supporting Manitowoc Ice manufacturing. This role ensures that manufacturing processes are defined, controlled, monitored, and continually improved in accordance with ISO 9001 quality management system requirements and applicable environmental and safety standards. The position provides technical leadership to ensure product conformity, process capability, regulatory compliance, and effective risk management, while supporting new and existing product realization activities.
Key Responsibilities
Manufacturing & Process Control
Risk‑Based Thinking, Reliability & Data Analysis
Apply risk‑based thinking to manufacturing processes through PFMEA, control planning, and process capability assessment.
Perform and interpret:
Process capability studies (Cp, Cpk, Pp, Ppk)
Trend analysis and performance monitoring
Reliability and failure analysis
Develop sampling plans appropriate to process risk, product criticality, and capability.
Cost, Performance & Continuous Improvement
Environmental & Safety Compliance (ISO 14001 / 45001 Alignment)
Ensure plating and finishing operations comply with environmental and safety requirements, including:
Hazardous waste management
Wastewater treatment and monitoring
Chemical handling and storage
Support environmental compliance reporting and audits in coordination with EHS.
Promote safe work practices and compliance with applicable safety procedures in manufacturing.
Quality Management System & ISO Compliance
Act as process owner for plating and finishing operations in alignment with ISO 9001 Clause 4-8 requirements.
Develop, maintain, and control documented information, including:
Process flow diagrams
Work instructions
Control plans
PFMEAs
Inspection and test plans
Ensure effective document control, revision management, and training deployment within manufacturing.
Support internal, customer, and third‑party audits, including preparation, objective evidence presentation, and corrective action execution.
Lead and support corrective and preventive actions (CAPA) using root‑cause analysis methodologies (e.g., 5‑Why, Fishbone).
