The Opportunity

The Manufacturing Mechanical Liaison Engineer is responsible for shaping, validating, and improving modular data center cooling products by evaluating design feasibility, constructability, manufacturability, and compliance with applicable MEP construction codes.

The role bridges product design, factory fabrication, and site installation, ensuring that modular MEP solutions can be reliably built, transported, installed, and commissioned in accordance with industry’s best practices.

What you will do?

Product Engineering & Design Validation

  • Serve as a core member of the Product Engineering team supporting standardized and repeatable modular cooling products.
  • Review and influence MEP designs to ensure constructability, manufacturability, and serviceability.
  • Evaluate designs against real-world MEP construction practices and provide design improvement recommendations.
  • Ensure system layouts account for space constraints, access, tolerances, and modular limitations.
  • Lead change management efforts between engineering and manufacturing teams.

Constructability & Means-and-Methods Review

  • Provide feedback on means and methods of construction for modular MEP systems.
  • Assess readiness for factory fabrication, transportation, and site installation.
  • Identify risks between design intent and construction execution and propose mitigation.
  • Review module interconnections and field tie-ins.

Code Compliance & Engineering Governance

  • Ensure compliance with applicable codes and standards including ASHRAE, NEC/CEC, NFPA, IMC, IPC, and local AHJ requirements.
  • Support AHJ documentation and code interpretations.
  • Advise product teams regarding jurisdictional design constraints.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Act as the MEP technical liaison between product, manufacturing, construction, and commissioning teams.
  • Review shop drawings, P&IDs, layouts, and control diagrams with a constructability-first approach.
  • Participate in structured product design reviews.

Manufacturing, Testing & Deployment Support

  • Support Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) and Site Acceptance Testing (SAT).
  • Review and validate installation and commissioning procedures.
  • Capture lessons learned from factory and site to improve future product iterations.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related discipline.
  • 5–10+ years of MEP engineering experience with exposure to modular or prefabricated construction.
  • Experience with data center cooling or other mission-critical infrastructure (preferred).
  • Strong knowledge of MEP construction practices and building codes.
  • Proficiency in CAD software (Solidworks a plus)
  • Effective communication and collaboration skills
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines
  • Demonstrated ability to evaluate design feasibility and constructability.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Professional Engineer (PE / P.Eng) license or eligibility.
  • Experience with product engineering or design-for-manufacture.
  • Familiarity with modular cooling plants, redundancy concepts, and factory-built systems.
