Summary:

Develops, evaluates, and enhances safe manufacturing methods by utilizing knowledge of the design of products, materials, and parts, fabrication processes, tooling, and production equipment capabilities, assembly methods, and quality control standards. Creates and supports a culture where safety is not negotiable and drives continuous improvement in quality, throughput, and productivity.

Essential Job Duties:

  • Improve and maintain product quality through the development of safe standard work processes designed to eliminate mistakes while maintaining efficiency.
  • Analyzes current state manufacturing methods, workflows, equipment, and technologies to determine future state based on improvement targets; implements identified opportunities.
  • Maximize efficiency by analyzing the layout of equipment, workflow, assembly methods, and workforce utilization.
  • Estimate production times, staffing requirements, and related costs to provide information for management decisions.
  • Provide new and refresher standards training for personnel.
  • Conducts improvement projects using Lean & Six Sigma methodologies to implement and sustain objectives, including planning and facilitating Kaizen events.
  • Defines & implements new equipment and processes, including automation/autonomation for key operations.
  • Provide new and refresher standards training for personnel.
  • Manages key capital projects from specification to production release.
  • Collaborate with design engineers and product managers on product design and tooling to ensure efficient production methods.
  • Confer with internal contacts or vendors to determine product specifications, arrange for purchase of equipment, materials, or parts, and evaluate products according to specifications and quality standards.
  • Confer with management, engineering, and other staff regarding manufacturing capabilities, production schedules, and other considerations to facilitate production processes.
  • Complete all training as assigned and uphold all company policies and procedures.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications - Required qualifications to effectively perform the job. An equivalent combination of education, training, and experience will be considered. (Additional requirements may be designated by position.)

  • A bachelor's degree in engineering or an equivalent combination of education and related work experience.
  • Five years of related experience in a manufacturing environment, with preference given to those with Six Sigma and/or Lean manufacturing experience.
  • MIG Welding experience and CNC programming a plus

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities - May be representative, but not all-inclusive, of those knowledge, skills, and abilities commonly associated with this position.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office products - specifically Excel, Word, and Outlook.
  • Experience with engineering software is a plus.
  • Critical thinker with exceptional attention to detail.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to effectively organize and prioritize work as well as concentrate on multiple tasks simultaneously.

Work Environment - Environmental or atmospheric conditions commonly associated with the performance of the functions of this job.

  • General Manufacturing environment including regular exposure to loud and distracting noises, outdoor climate and weather fluctuations including temperature, humidity, rain, etc., dust, uneven ground, exposure to hazardous equipment, and contaminants.
