Job Summary

Aquinas Consulting is hiring a contract to hire Manufacturing Engineer for our client located in Fairfield County. The Manufacturing Engineer is responsible for creating, maintaining, and improving manufacturing processes to ensure precision products are produced safely, efficiently, and to high-quality standards. The role involves working closely with production technicians to optimize assembly methods, welding processes, and testing procedures. 

Key Responsibilities

  • Process Development & Documentation: Develop manufacturing methods, work instructions, and routing steps from technical drawings and engineering data.
  • Tooling & Fixturing Design: Design and maintain tooling and fixtures to support assembly, welding, and testing.
  • Shop Floor Troubleshooting: Provide daily technical support to production, troubleshooting assembly issues, and reducing scrap.
  • Quality Control & Compliance: Participate in Root Cause Analysis and corrective actions for non-conformances.
  • Continuous Improvement: Implement Lean manufacturing techniques to reduce waste, reduce changeover times, and improve process flow.
  • New Product Introduction (NPD): Work alongside engineering to transition new designs from prototyping to full production.

Required Skills & Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or related field.
  • Experience: 6+ years of experience in a manufacturing setting, preferably in precision machining, metal fabrication, or welding environments.
  • Technical Skills: Strong ability to interpret blueprints, CAD drawings (e.g., SolidWorks), and apply Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).
  • Hands-on Capability: Comfortable working on the shop floor to fix equipment, train operators, and analyze production processes.
  • Soft Skills: Strong problem-solving abilities, excellent communication, and the ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced, small team environment. 

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to work on the manufacturing floor for extended periods (walking/standing).
  • Ability to occasionally lift or move up to 30-50 pounds.
