Job Title: Manufacturing Engineer

Job Description

This hands-on Manufacturing Engineer role supports sustaining engineering and production of complex, custom semiconductor capital equipment in a low-volume, high-complexity, engineer-to-order environment. You will act as the first line of defense on the manufacturing floor, troubleshooting mechanical, electrical, and integration issues during assembly, build, and test of high-value electromechanical systems. The position offers direct impact on production and product performance, extensive cross-functional collaboration, and exposure to cutting-edge semiconductor equipment and manufacturing processes.

Responsibilities

  • Provide hands-on support during assembly, integration, and final testing of complex semiconductor capital equipment.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve mechanical and electrical issues, including fit, tolerance, and integration challenges during build and test.
  • Serve as the first responder for production issues on the manufacturing floor and drive timely root cause analysis and resolution.
  • Identify design or process issues and provide clear, actionable feedback to engineering teams through redlines and recommendations.
  • Collaborate closely with design engineering, quality, supply chain, and production teams to ensure successful builds and issue resolution.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives to prevent repeat issues and enhance build quality and efficiency.
  • Develop and update work instructions and other documentation to support consistent and accurate build processes.
  • Manage multiple issues and priorities in a fast-paced, floor-driven environment while maintaining clear communication with technicians and leadership.
  • Travel up to approximately 10% domestically and internationally to support production, integration, or issue resolution as needed.

Essential Skills

  • Strong mechanical aptitude with practical, hands-on experience supporting complex electromechanical systems.
  • Working knowledge of electrical systems and the ability to read and interpret electrical schematics.
  • Demonstrated troubleshooting skills for mechanical, electrical, and system-level integration issues.
  • Experience working with semiconductor manufacturing equipment, semiconductor tools, or other complex capital equipment.
  • Ability to provide design feedback and implement design redlines to address manufacturability and process issues.
  • Comfort working in a fast-paced, shop-floor-focused environment that is driven by production needs.
  • Execution- and troubleshooting-focused mindset rather than a purely design-focused orientation.
  • Adaptability to work across multiple issues and shifting priorities in a low-volume, high-complexity environment.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to interface effectively from technicians through leadership.
  • Ability and willingness to travel up to approximately 10% domestically and internationally.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering (such as Mechanical, Electrical, or related discipline).
  • Experience with GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing) and understanding of fit and tolerance requirements.
  • Experience working with custom or engineer-to-order equipment in a manufacturing environment.
  • Exposure to high vacuum systems and their integration within complex tools.
  • Experience in semiconductor manufacturing processes or advanced technology manufacturing environments.
  • Ability to create and maintain clear work instructions and manufacturing documentation.
  • Interest in working on high-value systems used in AI, semiconductor, and advanced technology applications.
  • Motivation to contribute in a high-visibility role supporting major production growth and ramp-up.
