Our client is seeking - a hands-on and versatile Manufacturing Engineer with a strong electrical engineering background to support New Product Introduction (NPI) and provide technical leadership across the product lifecycle. This role bridges the gap between electrical design and production, ensuring that manufacturing and test processes for electronic and electro-mechanical systems are robust, scalable, and aligned with product requirements.
The ideal candidate will have experience with PCBA design interpretation, electrical test development, and production support, and will be comfortable collaborating with cross-functional teams and suppliers to resolve technical challenges.
Responsibilities
NPI Support
Collaborate with R&D, electrical design, and supply chain teams to transition products from development to production.
Develop and validate manufacturing and electrical test processes for new products, including fixtures, test stations, and calibration methods.
Participate in design reviews with a focus on design-for-manufacturing (DFM) and design-for-test (DFT) for electronic systems.
Support prototype builds, pilot runs, and production ramp-up activities.
Technical Data Package (TDP) Support
Interpret and clarify electrical schematics, PCB layouts, wiring diagrams, BOMs, and specifications for internal teams and external suppliers.
Serve as the primary point of contact for technical questions related to electrical and PCBA documentation.
Ensure all electrical documentation is complete, accurate, and production-ready.
Process & Test Engineering
Define, develop, and optimize electrical assembly, integration, and test processes for PCBAs and electro-mechanical systems.
Design and implement functional test systems, test fixtures, and automated test equipment (ATE).
Support debugging, root cause analysis, and corrective actions for electrical and system-level failures.
Drive improvements in yield, reliability, and test coverage.
Implement lean manufacturing principles and continuous improvement initiatives.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
Work closely with electrical engineering, procurement, quality, and supplier engineering teams to ensure alignment on technical requirements.
Support supplier qualification and onboarding, particularly for PCBAs and electrical components.
Provide technical guidance and training to manufacturing and supplier teams on electrical assembly and testing.
Collaborate with design teams to ensure manufacturability, testability, and compliance of new products.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering (preferred) or Manufacturing/Mechanical Engineering with strong electrical experience.
5+ years of experience in manufacturing engineering, preferably in electronics, PCBA, or electro-mechanical systems.
Strong understanding of NPI processes, DFM, and DFT principles.
Proficiency in interpreting schematics, PCB layouts, wiring diagrams, and BOMs.
Experience with electrical test development, including test fixtures, instrumentation, and data acquisition.
Familiarity with common lab equipment (oscilloscopes, multimeters, power supplies, signal generators).
Proficiency in CAD and ECAD tools (e.g., Altium, OrCAD) and manufacturing systems (PDM/PLM tools such as Autodesk Vault, SolidWorks PDM).
Experience working with contract manufacturers and PCBA suppliers.
Familiarity with ERP and PLM systems.
Preferred Attributes
Knowledge of IPC standards (e.g., IPC-A-610, IPC-2221) and electronics manufacturing best practices.
Experience with automated test systems (ATE), LabVIEW, or similar test software.
Hands-on experience with soldering, rework, and electronics troubleshooting.
Familiarity with EMI/EMC considerations and compliance testing.
Lean Six Sigma certification or equivalent process improvement training.
