WHAT THIS ROLE LOOKS LIKE:
Under the supervision of the Plant Manager and coordination with the department supervisors, this position will learn and support production, veneer and maintenance. The Manufacturing Engineer Tech supports the day-to-day operations, maximizes machinery and equipment life, performance efficiency, and continuous improvement while collaborating with the plant operations. This position will develop, evaluate and improve manufacturing methods utilizing his new learn knowledge of: product design, process manufacturing, material handling methods, process instrumentation/automation; as well as modern-day quality management principles/practices and is responsible for demonstrating the Core Values of Integrity, Safety, Respect, Customer Focus, Quality, Innovation and Financial Success. Performs other related duties as assigned.

Conducts engineering design and plant performance review, reviews engineering documents, and provides guidance to management on project requirements
Design, set up, and program new equipment and processes for manufacturing
Propose changes to improve processes
Applies lean manufacturing principles to improve yield, efficiencies, and quality
Create, review, and update specifications for procedures of building materials manufacturing
Correct product or process problems
Set up and program equipment for new processes
Schedule and test new processes
Monitor production performance data for new processes
Train employees on new processes
Prepare documentation on new processes
Determines the specifications for the solution and develops conceptual design for new or replacement equipment
Reviews, evaluates and implements new technologies that support best practices in manufacturing
Uses logical thought processes to analyze information and draw conclusions
Maintains accurate filing and records system for projects from initiation to project close out
Conducts preliminary engineering studies
Determines project requirements and estimates resource required
Conducts economic analysis to determine optimum plan
Creates and manages effective project plans
Create milestones
Proactively engages with all stakeholders - operators, maintenance, and managers
Anticipates project constraints and creates alternative plans
Monitors project status against the plan and reports on the results
Provides input into the preparation of contracts
Acts independently on technical matters in the assigned field of expertise and recommends approval of professional services, materials & construction procurement contracts
Interprets and explains plans and contract terms to administrative staff and workers
Inspects and reviews projects to monitor compliance with building and safety codes, and other regulations
Develop and implement manual and automated test plans for equipment
Conducts engineering analysis and develops recommendations to maintain and improve plant and system efficiency, reliability, safety, environmental compliance and cost performance
Recommends equipment, new concepts and techniques to improve performance, simplify construction, reduce costs, correct design or material flaws, or comply with changes in codes or regulations
Understands the requirements of other disciplines, such as electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, civil engineering
Is able to seamlessly integrate new technologies with legacy technologies without compromising safety or reliability
Applies a basic understanding of finance and engineering economics
Is able to clearly and effectively communicate with corporate managers and engineers
Understands the basics of systems engineering, IT fundamentals, communications systems basics to help bridge the gaps across disciplines to avoid engineering re‐designs
Learn to coach, motivate, instruct, train/cross train, offer guidance, plan, organize and direct production/maintenance and hold his team accountable to meet the production schedule and objectives.
Learn to properly oversee department personnel during their shift under his/her purview such as machine operators, sorters, laborers, heavy equipment/forklift operators.
Participate in producing the production schedule.
Learn to inspect, assess and report finished brick as well as control proper batching and color systems in accordance with company quality standards.
Prevent and report breakdowns in production to the maintenance department.
Learn how to fill out and maintain production reports, quality control daily checklist, maintenance logs and associated document and answer the phone.
Act as backup for Department Supervisors and other positions as needed.
Determines cost effectiveness of repairing parts in-house versus contracting out for repairs.
Analyzes and determines cause of equipment malfunctions.
Abides by all safety rules set forth by the company and governmental regulatory agencies; and ensures that hazardous conditions are reported and corrected.
Predictable, and Regular attendance is required. Must be able to work weekends and overtime as needed.
