Muddox also offers custom shapes, sizes and colors in a range of products.Manufacturing Engineer Tech$26 - $29/hour Depending on Qualifications and ExperienceWhat This Role Looks LikeUnder the supervision of the Plant Manager and coordination with the department supervisors, this position will learn and support production, veneer and maintenance. The Manufacturing Engineer Tech supports the day-to-day operations, maximizes machinery and equipment life, performance efficiency, and continuous improvement while collaborating with the plant operations. This position will develop, evaluate and improve manufacturing methods utilizing his new learn knowledge of: product design, process manufacturing, material handling methods, process instrumentation/automation; as well as modern-day quality management principles/practices and is responsible for demonstrating the Core Values of Integrity, Safety, Respect, Customer Focus, Quality, Innovation and Financial Success . Performs other related duties as assigned.Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesConducts engineering design and plant performance review, reviews engineering documents, and provides guidance to management on project requirementsDesign, set up, and program new equipment and processes for manufacturingPropose changes to improve processesApplies lean manufacturing principles to improve yield, efficiencies, and qualityCreate, review, and update specifications for procedures of building materials manufacturingCorrect product or process problemsSet up and program equipment for new processesSchedule and test new processesMonitor production performance data for new processesTrain employees on new processesPrepare documentation on new processesDetermine the specifications for the solution and develop conceptual design for new or replacement equipmentReview, evaluate and implement new technologies that support best practices in manufacturingUse logical thought processes to analyze information and draw conclusionsMaintain accurate filing and records system for projects from initiation to project close outConduct preliminary engineering studiesDetermine project requirements and estimate resources requiredConduct economic analysis to determine optimum planCreate and manage effective project plansPrioritize tasksCreate milestonesProactively engage with all stakeholders – operators, maintenance, and managersAnticipate project constraints and create alternative plansMonitor project status against the plan and report on the resultsProvide input into the preparation of contractsAct independently on technical matters in the assigned field of expertise and recommend approval of professional services, materials & construction procurement contractsInterpret and explain plans and contract terms to administrative staff and workersInspect and review projects to monitor compliance with building and safety codes, and other regulationsDevelop and implement manual and automated test plans for equipmentConduct engineering analysis and develop recommendations to maintain and improve plant and system efficiency, reliability, safety, environmental compliance and cost performanceRecommend equipment, new concepts and techniques to improve performance, simplify construction, reduce costs, correct design or material flaws, or comply with changes in codes or regulationsUnderstand the requirements of other disciplines, such as electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, civil engineeringBe able to seamlessly integrate new technologies with legacy technologies without compromising safety or reliabilityApply a basic understanding of finance and engineering economicsBe able to clearly and effectively communicate with corporate managers and engineersUnderstand the basics of systems engineering, IT fundamentals, communications systems basics to help bridge the gaps across disciplines to avoid engineering re‑designsLearn to coach, motivate, instruct, train/cross train, offer guidance, plan, organize and direct production/maintenance and hold his team accountable to meet the production schedule and objectivesLearn to properly oversee department personnel during their shift under his/her purview such as machine operators, sorters, laborers, heavy equipment/forklift operatorsParticipate in producing the production scheduleLearn to inspect, assess and report finished brick as well as control proper batching and color systems in accordance with company quality standardsPrevent and report breakdowns in production to the maintenance departmentLearn how to fill out and maintain production reports, quality control daily checklist, maintenance logs and associated documents and answer the phoneAct as backup for Department Supervisors and other positions as neededDetermine cost effectiveness of repairing parts in-house versus contracting out for repairsAnalyze and determine cause of equipment malfunctionsAbide by all safety rules set forth by the company and governmental regulatory agencies; and ensure that hazardous conditions are reported and correctedPredictable, and regular attendance is required. Must be able to work weekends and overtime as neededQualificationsBachelor's degree or 2+ years' experience in manufacturing or engineering‑related field, preferredAbility to lead and motivate others effectivelySkilled in the use of AutoCAD, Solidworks, Draftsight, or other design softwareUnderstand and produce engineering drawingsMust be flexible and ready to adapt to changing requirements, customer needs, and scope changesMust have and maintain a valid driver's licenseRequires excellent verbal and written communication and mathematical skillsPredictable, and regular attendance is required.
