Opportunity Overview

As an NPI Manufacturing Engineer, you will help bring new electro-mechanical products to life by partnering with cross-functional teams to move designs from concept through successful volume manufacturing. You will apply broad manufacturing engineering knowledge to develop assembly strategies, resolve product and process issues, guide tooling and fixture development, improve product manufacturability, and enable a successful manufacturing transfer.

In this role, you will:

  • Champion manufacturing engineering activities for assigned new product introduction projects from concept development through production transfer.
  • Partner with design engineering and others to evaluate product designs, identify manufacturing and assembly risks, and recommend improvements.
  • Develop manufacturing strategies, assembly process flows, and build plans that support program quality, schedule, and production-readiness objectives.
  • Guide hands-on builds and evaluations of electro-mechanical assemblies to identify process risks, validate assembly methods, and recommend product or process improvements.
  • Develop, review, and approve detailed assembly instructions and manufacturing process documentation for pilot production teams and contract manufacturing partners.
  • Define requirements for assembly tools and fixtures, coordinate their design and qualification, and ensure the solutions meet applicable manufacturing needs.
  • Facilitate investigations of complex product assembly and manufacturing issues using structured problem-solving and root-cause assessment methods and communicate findings and correction recommendations to cross-functional project teams and stakeholders.
  • Coordinate the design and validation of product packaging solutions in collaboration with suppliers and internal stakeholders.
  • Train manufacturing personnel on assembly methods, process requirements, tooling use, and product-specific manufacturing risks.
  • Advise less-experienced engineers and team members on manufacturing best practices, problem-solving methods, process documentation requirements, and tooling design.
  • Identify opportunities to improve manufacturing methods, process documentation and the overall Manufacturing Engineering NPI process.
  • Contribute to additional NPI and manufacturing engineering initiatives based on program and business needs.
