Job Descriptions:

Velia Multiservices is partnering with a cutting-edge early-stage hardware startup building breakthrough desalination and water security technology that has the potential to reshape global access to clean water. We're looking for a highly driven Manufacturing Engineer who thrives in fast-paced environments and wants to help scale a deeply impactful product from prototype builds to high-rate production.

This is an opportunity to join a mission-driven team at an inflection point — where engineering decisions directly influence manufacturing scale, product reliability, and long-term company growth.

What You'll Do

  • Design, develop, and optimize manufacturing processes and production lines for advanced desalination systems.
  • Lead Design for Manufacturing and Design for Assembly (DFM/DFA) initiatives across mechanical assemblies and production workflows.
  • Design tooling, fixtures, operator-assist equipment, and factory automation solutions to improve throughput and consistency.
  • Partner cross-functionally with mechanical, systems, and operations teams to define cycle times, yield targets, and cost-per-unit metrics.
  • Develop work instructions, process flows, workstation layouts, and manufacturing documentation for new product introductions.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives focused on quality, efficiency, scalability, and reliability.
  • Support first builds, pilot lines, and the transition into high-volume manufacturing.
  • Help build manufacturing infrastructure from the ground up in a rapidly evolving startup environment.

What We're Looking For

  • 2+ years of hands-on manufacturing engineering experience supporting physical hardware products.
  • Experience in high-rate manufacturing environments such as automotive, consumer electronics, aerospace, robotics, or Starlink-type production systems.
  • Strong understanding of Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, SPC, and process optimization methodologies.
  • Proven ability to build or scale manufacturing processes in fast-moving hardware environments.
  • Proficiency in SolidWorks or equivalent CAD software for designing tooling, fixtures, workstations, or custom production equipment.
  • Experience designing custom machinery or automation systems including conveyors, pick-and-place systems, pneumatic actuation, or operator-assist equipment.
  • Familiarity with fluid and pressure systems including pumps, valves, tubing, pressure vessels, or fluid-handling equipment.
  • Comfortable operating in ambiguous, high-ownership startup environments where speed and execution matter.

Preferred Background

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or Industrial Engineering.
  • Strong hands-on engineering background through Formula SAE, Baja, Rocket Club, robotics teams, or other build-focused engineering organizations.
  • Builder mentality with a passion for solving difficult real-world manufacturing problems.
