Job Title: Manufacturing Engineer V

Location: Columbus, IN

Job Type: W2

Expected hours per week: 40 hours per week

Schedule: Onsite

Pay Range: $60 to $70 an hour

Duration: 12-Month Contract (Potential Extension)

Schedule: Split Shift Required (Candidate must be able to work both schedules)

First 6 Months: Monday-Friday, 8:00 AM-5:00 PM

Second 6 Months: Monday-Friday, 3:00 PM-12:00 AM (flexibility available)

Job Description:

Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Manufacturing Engineer to lead manufacturing process development and launch activities for new production programs. This role will be responsible for driving end-to-end manufacturing readiness, optimizing production processes, supporting equipment implementation, and ensuring successful product launches while meeting safety, quality, delivery, and cost objectives.

The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with manufacturing process development, robotics, GD&T, engineering drawing interpretation, and continuous improvement initiatives within a high-volume manufacturing environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead manufacturing process development and implementation for new product launches and production programs.
  • Support VPI (Product Introduction) launch activities, ensuring manufacturing readiness and smooth production ramp-up.
  • Develop, optimize, and standardize manufacturing processes, work instructions, and best practices.
  • Apply advanced manufacturing principles to improve equipment utilization, productivity, quality, and operational efficiency.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including Engineering, Quality, Operations, Supply Chain, and external vendors to achieve project milestones.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives through structured problem-solving and data-driven decision-making.
  • Design and improve workstation layouts, tooling, fixtures, and manufacturing processes with a focus on safety and ergonomics.
  • Coordinate internal and external resources to execute project deliverables on time and within scope.
  • Analyze manufacturing processes and implement solutions to reduce waste, improve quality, and lower operational costs.
  • Provide technical guidance and manufacturing expertise to stakeholders and project teams.
  • Interpret engineering drawings and GD&T requirements to develop robust manufacturing processes and tooling solutions.
  • Support equipment installation, commissioning, validation, and production startup activities.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related technical field.
  • 5+ years of manufacturing engineering experience in a production environment.
  • Experience supporting new product launches, production start-ups, or VPI activities.
  • Experience with Fanuc HandlingTool or Fanuc Arc Tool programming and support.
  • Strong understanding of GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing) and engineering drawing interpretation.
  • Experience developing and improving manufacturing processes, tooling, and production equipment.
  • Knowledge of lean manufacturing, continuous improvement, and structured problem-solving methodologies.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills with the ability to work cross-functionally.
  • Strong analytical and project management skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with robotic automation systems and manufacturing equipment integration.
  • Background in process optimization, ergonomics, and production line design.
  • Experience implementing standardized work, process documentation, and manufacturing best practices.
  • Familiarity with quality systems and root cause analysis tools.

Additional Information

  • This is a fully onsite position.
  • Candidates must be willing and able to work both day and night shifts as outlined above.
  • Candidates unable to accommodate the split-shift schedule will not be considered.
  • Assignment is expected to last 12 months with potential for extension based on business needs.
