SUMMARY:

This engineering position is responsible to support product production in the plant and reports to the Plant Engineering Manager. The manufacturing engineer works both independently and as a part of a team to maintain and improve processes and systems used in manufacturing. In addition, manufacturing engineers function as specialists and subject matter experts for technical planning throughout the facility.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Develops, improves, and monitors standards, processes, and performance to reduce costs and improve production operations
  • Analyze production data to identify bottlenecks, quality improvements, and cost-reduction opportunities
  • Provides objective, functional, and financial engineering guidance on capital expenditures to site management and implementation support
  • Develop and maintain SOPs and Work Instructions
  • Provides lean manufacturing guidance to operations through coordination with the site Lean Manager
  • Investigate production issues using a systematic approach to root cause and corrective actions (8D problem solving methodology)
  • Other duties as assigned

KEY SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES:

Preferred candidates will have prior experience within a manufacturing environment, knowledge of lean manufacturing is a plus. Must be able to effectively communicate with all levels of plant personnel. Demonstrate proficiency within welding and assembly processes, coordinating work activities and managing multiple tasks and priorities is a requirement.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelors degree in engineering or Associates degree in a technical field with equivalent technical experience
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal and teamwork skills
  • Thorough knowledge of manufacturing concepts
  • Experience within a lean manufacturing environment preferred
  • Proven 8D problem-solving experience
