Manufacturing Engineer

Full-Time | Monday–Friday

Salary: $65,000 – $75,000

About the Role

Gusmer Enterprises is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer to support equipment, processes, and continuous improvement initiatives within our production environment. This role is ideal for an early-career engineer looking to build hands-on experience in manufacturing while contributing to safety, quality, and efficiency improvements.

You will collaborate with cross-functional teams and take ownership of engineering projects while continuing to develop your technical and problem-solving skills.

Key Responsibilities

Engineering & Project Work

• Plan and execute engineering projects, including defining scope and objectives

• Support equipment installation, modification, and process improvements

• Develop and maintain work instructions and equipment documentation

• Analyze data to identify trends in process performance and reliability

• Assist with cost analysis and capital improvement justification

• Provide regular updates on project progress and outcomes

Process Improvement & Troubleshooting

• Lead continuous improvement initiatives, including defining project scope and objectives

• Perform root cause analysis and implement corrective actions

• Troubleshoot equipment and process issues alongside production and maintenance teams

• Identify opportunities to improve safety, quality, and productivity

• Support production during startups, changeovers, and ongoing operations

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Manufacturing, Mechanical, Plastics, or Materials Engineering

• Minimum of 2 years of relevant engineering experience (or equivalent combination of education and experience)

• Preferred 2+ years in a manufacturing environment

• Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills

• Basic understanding of process improvement and root cause analysis methods (e.g., 5 Whys, Fishbone)

• Ability to manage projects and work both independently and collaboratively

• Strong communication skills

• Proficiency with Microsoft Office; experience with CAD tools (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD) is a plus

Work Environment & Physical Requirements

• Combination of office, production floor, and lab/warehouse environments

• Exposure to moderate noise, temperature variations, and industrial conditions

• Ability to lift up to 35 lbs. and occasionally push up to 100 lbs.

• Frequent standing, walking, bending, and use of hands for tools and equipment
