Description: Our client is currently seeking a Manufacturing Engineer - Welding!   This is a St. Louis based opportunity requiring onsite capabilities. 

    About the Role

    Under the general direction of the Plant Manager, the Manufacturing Engineer – Welding is a hands-on role responsible for providing production and process engineering support to the welding department. This position focuses on improving quality, efficiency, and scalability across welding operations through fixture design, process development, equipment specification, and continuous improvement initiatives. The role supports MIG, TIG, spot, and flash welding processes, as well as related tube fabrication and assembly operations.

    Responsibilities

    • Design, develop, implement, and analyze manufacturing processes and systems to support welding and fabrication operations.
    • Design, specify, and coordinate procurement of welding fixtures and tooling.
    • Develop, improve, and document welding process specifications, programs, and work instructions.
    • Provide day-to-day production support, including machine setup, part verification, and troubleshooting.
    • Analyze quality and process control issues in existing production and recommend corrective actions.
    • Introduce new or improved welding processes to increase product quality, throughput, and cost efficiency.
    • Partner with Production and Maintenance teams to diagnose and resolve manufacturing and equipment issues.
    • Collaborate with external vendors to support equipment, tooling, and process needs.
    • Support Sales and Project Management by participating in customer visits and technical sales discussions when needed.
    • Contribute to space utilization and workflow optimization to maximize operational efficiency.
    • Support maintenance and reliability efforts for welding and manufacturing equipment.
    • Handle sensitive and confidential manufacturing information in accordance with company policies.
    • Maintain professional and effective working relationships across all levels of the organization.

    Minimum Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s degree in an engineering discipline (e.g., Manufacturing, Mechanical, Industrial, or related field).
    • 2+ years of experience with robotic MIG welding in a manufacturing environment.
    • Working knowledge of engineering fundamentals, manufacturing processes, and welding techniques.
    • Experience diagnosing manufacturing and process-related issues in a production setting.

    Preferred Qualifications

    • Experience supporting multiple welding processes, including TIG, spot, and flash welding.
    • Familiarity with weld fixture design and process documentation.
    • Experience working with cross-functional teams in production, maintenance, and quality.
    • Strong problem-solving skills with a continuous improvement mindset.
