The Manufacturing Engineering Co-Op assists in the design, improvement, and optimization of manufacturing processes, equipment, and workflows. The role bridges engineering theory with practical application on the production floor supporting continuous improvement and operational excellence initiatives.
Responsibilities:
- Learn process troubleshooting techniques and production issue resolution tactics
- Use CAD skills to design or modify parts to be used in assigned project works
- Learn the process necessary to develop and maintain process documentation including bills of material, manufacturing routings, and standard work instructions
- Develop, troubleshoot, and review maintenance of tooling, dies, and fixtures as part of assigned project work
- Maintain a daily diary or log of work activities, meetings, and significant conversations or verbal directions
- Plan for sufficient material and equipment resources for efficient and economical installation
- Participate in the implementation of quality control practices in accordance with the project quality control plan
- Assist with various manufacturing engineering initiatives via data collection, analysis, and recommendations
- Learn to use improvement tools such as:
- Process mapping and measuring
- Root cause analysis
- Statistical process control
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
- BS/MS student in Mechanical Engineering, Materials Engineering, or related discipline. Junior standing preferred, other undergraduate and graduate level students will be considered
- Able to use the basic functionality of MS Office/Project
- Willingness to work in, and gain knowledge of, manufacturing
- AutoCAD or SolidWorks experience preferred
- Demonstrated organizational and project management skills
- Acute attention to detail with proven ability to communicate effectively at all levels
- Capacity to understand the scope of work, specifications, and drawings of assigned projects
- Knowledge of design changes, specifications, and drawing releases
- Understanding of quality control practices
At Bruker, the base salary is part of our total compensation. The estimated hourly range for this co-op position is between $18.00 and $25.00/hr and provides an opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base salary for the role will depend on several job-related factors, including, but not limited to, education, training, experience, the geographic location of the successful candidate, skills, competencies, job-related knowledge, and travel requirements for this position.
