Tesla is looking to hire a Manufacturing Engineering Technician to contribute to the development and deployment of specialized processes and equipment for our cutting-edge Battery products. Battery development is at the heart of our company and this is an exciting opportunity to work directly on the central challenges with electric vehicles - battery cost and performance. Tesla is a demanding and fast-paced environment where you will work with a highly motivated team on extremely challenging projects.

Responsibilities:

  • Regularly collaborate with Design and Manufacturing engineers.
  • Support development and optimization of manufacturing processes, quality controls, and equipment specifications.
  • Support the installation and commissioning of electromechanical equipment.
  • Help develop training material and train key personnel.
  • Support process and equipment validation utilizing metrology, destructive and non-destructive testing.
  • Help develop test criteria and collaborate on test fixture designs.
  • Maintain & pursue development equipment and facilities that are on the forefront of battery manufacturing technologies.

Requirements:

  • 2 years work experience in a similar technical role.
  • Able to travel up to 30% in role.
  • Experience in high-volume manufacturing transitioning complex products from prototype to production.
  • Proficient with hand-tools and fixture assembly.
  • Capability and willingness to travel domestically and internationally.
  • Experience in creating documentation and technical reports.
  • Understanding of electronic circuits and systems, conductors, isolators, dielectric materials is a plus.
  • Experience with or exposure to CAD software (2D AutoCAD and 3D SolidWorks, CATIA) is a plus.
  • Experience with conventional machining and other fabrication processes.
  • 3D printing experience is a plus.
