Summary:

The Manufacturing Engineering Technician plays a crucial role in supporting the production process by ensuring that manufacturing systems operate efficiently and effectively. This entry-level position in Lebanon, Tennessee, offers an opportunity to contribute to the continuous improvement of manufacturing operations, thereby enhancing product quality and operational productivity within the organization.

Responsibilities:

  • Respond to production line calls to troubleshoot and problem-solve issues impacting line uptime, working alongside Manufacturing Engineers to restore production as quickly as possible
  • Assist Manufacturing Engineers with troubleshooting and resolving issues with the Manufacturing Execution System (MES), including configuration errors, station routing, and data collection problems.
  • Support, calibrate, and troubleshoot DC power tools used on the production line, including programming changes, fastening parameter adjustments, and tool error recovery.
  • Maintain, troubleshoot, and support in-station testers, including assisting engineers with fixture issues, test failures, and recovery of stations after a fault.
  • Provide on-the-floor, hands-on technical support during production shifts, addressing issues with tooling, equipment, fixtures, and processes.
  • Assist Manufacturing Engineers in implementing process changes, engineering changes, and continuous improvement actions on the production line.
  • Help update and maintain manufacturing documentation, including work instructions, standard operating procedures, and visual aids, based on changes implemented on the line.
  • Participate in root cause analysis (RCA) and corrective action activities for recurring line stoppages, defects, and quality issues, under the direction of Manufacturing Engineers.
  • Collect data, perform basic time studies, and assist with process mapping to support engineering analysis and improvement projects.
  • Build, modify, and validate fixtures, tooling, and station hardware as directed by the Manufacturing Engineering team.
  • Train and coach production operators on correct use of tools, fixtures, MES transactions, and in-station testers following process changes.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area, and ensure all activities comply with environmental, health, and safety requirements.

Qualifications:

  • Associate degree in Manufacturing/Mechanical/Electrical/Electronics Engineering Technology or a related technical field; equivalent combination of technical training and relevant manufacturing experience will be considered.
  • 2+ years of experience in a manufacturing technician, maintenance, or equivalent hands-on production support role; experience in electric vehicle (EV) charging infrastructure, automotive, or electronics manufacturing is a plus.
  • Hands-on experience troubleshooting production equipment, fixtures, and tooling in a high-mix or high-volume manufacturing environment.
  • Working knowledge of Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES), including station configuration, transaction errors, and basic data troubleshooting.
  • Experience with Ingersoll Rand DC electric fastening tools, including basic programming, parameter adjustments, and error recovery.
  • Experience with in-station test equipment and the ability to troubleshoot test fixtures, sensors, wiring, and pass/fail conditions.
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, mechanical drawings, work instructions, and process documentation.
  • Familiarity with hand tools, power tools, basic electrical test equipment (multimeter, etc.), and mechanical assembly techniques.
  • Basic understanding of PLCs, sensors, and pneumatic/electrical controls is a plus.
  • Familiarity with continuous improvement, 5S, and lean manufacturing concepts is a plus.
  • Strong problem-solving, troubleshooting, and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with engineers, operators, and cross-functional teams.
