Manufacturing Engineering Technician
Department: Engineering - Tulsa
Reports To: Engineering Supervisor
General Purpose of Job
Support the successful assembly, testing, and continuous improvement of automated machinery by translating engineering designs and documentation into practical manufacturing processes. Develop work instructions, create manufacturing routings, support engineering change implementation, and provide hands-on production support to improve quality, efficiency, and throughput. Serve as a key link between engineering and manufacturing by helping ensure designs are effectively transitioned into production while supporting process improvements and issue resolution across the shop floor.
Special Skills / Abilities Needed
- Own and maintain the Engineering Machine Shop and AML (Additive Manufacturing Lab).
- Support engineering change implementation, rework projects, and disposition of non-conforming parts.
- Hands-on approach with the willingness to work directly on the production floor to diagnose and resolve manufacturing and assembly issues in real time.
- Experience with Design for Manufacturing and Assembly (DFMA) principles.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, assembly prints, bills of material, and manufacturing documentation.
- Working knowledge of machining, welding, fabrication, and mechanical assembly processes.
- Experience troubleshooting manufacturing, assembly, and equipment-related issues in a production environment.
- Familiarity with automated equipment, machine builds, and production workflows.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to build effective working relationships across all levels of the organization.
- Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously.
- Ability to adapt to changing priorities and perform effectively in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
- Valid drivers license.
- Willingness to travel as needed (approximately 0-20% monthly; higher travel may be expected during the onboarding period).
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
70% - Manufacturing Support & Process Implementation
- Support the manufacturing processes of automated machinery.
- Collaborate with Engineering, Production, Quality, and Supply Chain teams to resolve technical issues and improve manufacturability, minimizing downtime.
20% - Continuous Improvement & Quality Support
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives focused on safety, quality, cost reduction, and productivity enhancements.
- Support NCR (Non-Conformance Report) investigations, perform root-cause analysis and corrective actions.
- Identify opportunities to improve assembly efficiency, tooling, workstation layouts, and manufacturing methods.
10% - Documentation & Administrative Support
- Support engineering changes, process documentation and improvements.
- Ensure manufacturing documentation accurately reflects current production methods
Education and/or Experience
- Manufacturing engineering technician experience in a production or machine assembly environment preferred.
- Experience with machining, welding, fabrication, and mechanical assembly processes strongly preferred.
- Experience supporting automated equipment, machinery builds, or custom manufacturing systems is a plus.
- Proficiency interpreting engineering drawings, specifications, and bills of material.
