Manufacturing Equipment Technician - Backend

Onsemi is looking for a knowledgeable Manufacturing Equipment Technician that can perform preventative maintenance and lead electrical/mechanical troubleshooting. This position will specialize in maintaining various semiconductor manufacturing areas pertaining to ion implant, metals sputter deposition, wafer thinning, and probe test equipment. A qualified candidate must have a basic understanding of semiconductor manufacturing, electrical and mechanical troubleshooting knowledge, and a passion for working safely in a fast-paced industry.

Requirements:

• Minimum AAS in Electronics, Electro-Mechanical, Electrical Technology, or a Military Electronics degree.
• Strong electrical and mechanical aptitude is required to succeed in this role.
• Ability to define, initiate, and manage maintenance events that improve tool function and metrics.
• Use hand tools including wrenches, calipers, voltage/current meters, oscilloscopes, and other various equipment technology specific tooling.

Beneficial Knowledge:

• A strong understanding and working knowledge of the following systems is beneficial:
• Pneumatic/hydraulic pump systems
• Multi axis servo systems
• Optical components
• Chillers & cooling systems
• Familiarity with Robotic / Automated handling systems & vacuum systems.

Physical & Safety Requirements:

• Must be able to work with various hazardous gases and chemicals.
• Must be able to wear full face airline respirator.
• Must be able to stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl up to 1/3 of the time.
• Must be able to lift 50 pounds.
• Must be able to work in both an office and anti-static clean room environment.
• A safety-minded approach is required: employees must be able to learn, understand and follow all safety documentation, specs, and protocol, including LOTO.
• Must also be able to identify any/all safety concerns and regulatory violations in order to eradicate them.

Responsibilities:

• Drive solutions and guidelines by recommending and writing maintenance procedures and specifications.
• Opportunity to provide leadership to other technicians by providing training and mentoring.
• Strong communicator, who can effectively work with a team of manufacturing operators, process engineers, as well as other technicians.
• Troubleshoot and repair electromechanical systems that include:
• Servo motors and controllers
• Stepper motors and controllers
• AC motors and controllers
• DC motors and controllers
• Troubleshoot and repair electro-pneumatic systems that include:
• Solenoid valves
• Gate valves
• High vacuum isolation valves
• Vacuum pumps
• Pneumatic logic circuits
• The completion of all scheduled and unscheduled preventative maintenance and repair procedures in a timely, accurate, and safe manner.
• Use test and diagnostic equipment to identify root cause problems and put corrective actions in place.
• Use schematics, hand tools, electrical gauges and common test equipment for calibration, diagnosis, and repair of equipment.
• Perform equipment modifications as directed by engineers.
• Work with outside vendors as required.
• The ability to consistently take initiative and drive ones own work at a high level and demonstrate advanced leadership skills for small teams.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience with any and all of these machine technologies is a plus:
• Metal deposition
• Ion Implant
• Wafer Thinning
• Electronic testing/probing equipment
• Fluency in English Language - written & verbal.
