Manufacturing Estimator

Our client is seeking a hands-on Manufacturing Estimator who understands CNC processes, shop floor operations, and what it takes to turn complex customer RFQs into accurate, competitive quotes.

LOCATION: Tigard, OR

SALARY: $34/hr. DOE

SCHEDULE: Full-time; Monday-Friday | 7:00am-3:30pm

WHY YOU’LL LOVE THIS ROLE
  • High-Impact Role: Serve as the critical link between customers, quoting, and production in a fast-moving manufacturing environment.
  • Hands-On Manufacturing Focus: Use your CNC, machining, and fabrication knowledge to estimate real production time, complexity, and cost.
  • Customer-Facing Opportunity: Work directly with customer engineers and project managers to clarify requirements and support successful outcomes.
  • Variety and Pace: Balance standard production quoting with rapid prototype requests that require accuracy, urgency, and strong prioritization.
  • Newer Position: Step into a developing role where your experience and insight can help shape the quoting process.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Review and respond to customer Requests for Quote (RFQs) in a timely and professional manner by interpreting engineering drawings, specifications, and models to determine part requirements and scope of work.
  • Develop detailed Bills of Materials and manufacturing routings, identifying raw materials, hardware, finishes, outside processing, equipment requirements, and sequencing of operations for machining and fabrication processes.
  • Estimate cycle times, setup times, labor requirements, and total manufacturing costs for machining, fabrication, and prototype projects while ensuring accuracy and competitiveness in fast-turnaround quoting.
  • Coordinate with vendors and internal teams to obtain pricing for materials and outside processes, clarify technical requirements with customers, and maintain accurate quote logs while tracking RFQ-to-order conversion performance.

WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR
  • 3+ years of experience in a manufacturing environment with hands-on CNC machining, fabrication, or precision manufacturing experience.
  • Strong ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, including GD&T per ASME Y14.5, with solid understanding of machining and fabrication processes such as milling, turning, routing, cutting, welding, and bonding.
  • Demonstrated experience estimating complex, multi-setup parts with tight tolerances and secondary operations, including material and process selection for manufacturing feasibility.
  • Strong customer-facing communication skills with proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook) and familiarity with ERP/MRP quoting systems; experience working with engineers, project managers, and vendors preferred.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
This position requires the ability to sit, stand, and work at a computer for extended periods while performing detailed estimating, drawing review, and production analysis tasks. Must be able to occasionally move through a manufacturing environment and lift up to 25 pounds while interacting with shop personnel and maintaining awareness of typical production floor conditions.

DIVERSITY, EQUITY, AND INCLUSION STATEMENT
We are committed to fostering an inclusive workplace that welcomes diverse candidates. All qualified applicants will be considered regardless of background, identity, or status.
