Title: Manufacturing Execution Software Developer - MES
Location: Bolingbrook, IL
Position Type: Full Time Contract to Hire (or Direct Hire for the right candidate)
Pay Rate: $50-60+ per hour

This is an opportunity for a software developer to work at the intersection of software development, manufacturing automation, data, and industrial technology. You'll design, develop, deploy, and support manufacturing execution solutions that connect critical systems and help manufacturing operations run more efficiently.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design, document, develop, test, and implement manufacturing software solutions using Ignition MES, Python, SQL, and/or C++.
- Develop and maintain both frontend and backend code, ensuring intuitive, responsive, and effective user experiences.
- Design and implement integrations between complex manufacturing and business systems, including ERP, WMS, Salesforce, and other core platforms.
- Support daily and periodic application monitoring, data gathering, troubleshooting, and performance optimization.
- Provide technical support, troubleshooting, and user training for manufacturing software applications.
- Conduct code reviews and promote strong development standards and best practices.
- Follow established Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) processes for system changes, enhancements, and software deployments.
- Participate in requirements development, design reviews, peer reviews, testing, and implementation activities.
- Work with engineering and cross-functional teams to validate software accuracy, functionality, and efficiency.
- Serve as a technical resource to users, translating complex software concepts into clear business and operational terminology.
- Contribute to small- and medium-sized software development projects.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
- Minimum 2+ years of software development and MES experience.
- Experience with Inductive Automation Ignition.
- Strong Python and SQL database development experience.
- Experience designing and implementing SCADA systems, including SQL database pipelines.
- Experience working with multiple programming languages such as C++, Python, Java, Ladder Logic, or Structured Text.
- Strong understanding of object-oriented programming (OOP) and collaborative software development.
- Strong knowledge of the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) and experience across multiple phases of systems development.
- Understanding of MQTT and OPC fundamentals, including connectivity troubleshooting.
