POSITION OVERVIEW: We are looking for a Maintenance Group Leader to oversee production processes within a high-performance manufacturing environment. This role is crucial in driving operational excellence by ensuring safety, reliability, quality, and continuous improvement in daily operations. The position involves leading and developing teams, implementing lean manufacturing practices, and delivering results that align with business objectives. PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Promote a safe work environment, actively engaging in safety reviews and discussions to uphold workplace standards.
Provide leadership to maintenance crews, focusing on productivity, safety, quality, recovery, and timely delivery of operational goals.
Mentor and coach team members, providing opportunities for professional growth and skill development.
Allocate tasks equitably while considering business priorities, ensuring efficient workflow management and adherence to organizational guidelines.
Organize crew schedules to accommodate planned and unplanned situations, optimizing resources in line with operational needs.
Foster a diverse and customer-focused maintenance workforce equipped with strong technical capabilities.
Utilize root cause analysis and problem-solving techniques to address and resolve production challenges effectively.
Collect and analyze data for major exceptions to support equipment reliability and long-term viability initiatives.
Drive waste reduction and process optimization efforts while advancing lean manufacturing objectives.
Make informed decisions on performance recognition, discipline, and personnel management, backed by clear documentation.
Build relationships to influence and motivate teams, fostering collaboration to achieve customer satisfaction and resolve sensitive issues.
WORK SCHEDULE:
Supervise standard 8-hour shifts from Monday to Friday (7am–3pm) and provide occasional weekend support based on operational demands.
QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED
High school diploma or equivalent certification (GED).
A minimum of 3 years of hands-on maintenance experience.
At least 2 years of experience in supervisory roles managing direct reports.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Prior supervisory experience within a manufacturing environment.
Background in mechanical systems is highly advantageous.
Familiarity with unionized workplace settings.
Knowledge of human resources policies, procedures, and collective agreements is a plus.
Solid understanding of lean manufacturing principles and techniques for driving effective business outcomes.
