Title: Manufacturing Maintenance Supervisor II
Location: San Leandro, CA 94577
Duration: 6+ months with possible extensions, subject to budget & management/performance

3rd Shift- Hours 9pm - 5am. Sunday through Thursday

Candidate will be working 40-50 hours per week.

Job Summary:
  • The Manufacturing Production Supervisor is a central figure in the production environment, tasked with the management and guidance of production workers to meet set goals and uphold quality standards. Responsible for the coordination of various manufacturing functions within a large, complex, and fast paced food production facility to drive maximum financial results and deliver a quality on-time product for customers.
  • Role is responsible for supervising a production shift, managing day-to-day operations, and coaching hourly teams to meet production, safety, and quality targets.

Main responsibilities
  • Supervise daily production activities and personnel across assigned shift.
  • Ensure compliance with safety, food safety, and GMP standards.
  • Monitor KPIs and implement corrective actions for variances.
  • Support execution of WIGs and plant improvement projects.
  • Communicate goals, updates, and metrics to the team regularly.
  • Train and mentor employees to achieve peak performance.
  • Ensure shift handoff and reporting processes are complete and accurate.
  • Resolve equipment or process issues quickly by partnering with Maintenance or QA.
  • Lead safety meetings and participate in incident investigations.
  • Ensure SOX and compliance documentation is completed and filed properly.
  • Collaborate with scheduling, warehouse, and support teams for seamless operations.

Typical Day in the role:
  • Start shift pre-checks & shift pass down
  • Walk through the production floor
  • Lead shift-start meetings with production workers
  • Monitor production lines to maintain efficiency
  • Rectify issues affecting product quality Ensure employees follow GMPs and wear appropriate PPE Coach, develop associates, and take corrective action as needed

Work Environment:
  • Milk Plant is Noisey and Machinery
  • Environment has strict sanitation and hygiene standards
  • Certain work areas are cold
  • 24-hour operation

Minimum Qualifications:
  • HS Diploma or GED Equivalent
  • 4+ years of supervisory experience in a food manufacturing environment. 1 or more years' experience working with Lean Manufacturing principles.
  • Ability to direct a diverse unionized workforce.

Must haves:
  • Excellent Communication both verbal and written
  • Knowledge of GMP, HACCP and Safety Programs
  • Problem solving skills

Nice to haves:
  • Dairy Process Knowledge
  • Experience with coach and developing workers.
  • Working knowledge of MS applications including proficiency with Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, - PowerPoint and ability to grasp additional business-related applications.
