Purpose of Role

 

The Maintenance Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the maintenance team to ensure the safe, efficient, and reliable operation of equipment, machinery, and facilities. This role coordinates maintenance activities, manages personnel, and drives continuous improvement in equipment performance and uptime. This person reports to Maintenance Engineering Manager.

 

Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • Supervise, train, and lead maintenance technicians and support staff
  • Plan, prioritize, and assign daily maintenance work (preventive, predictive, and corrective)
  • Ensure timely response to equipment breakdowns to minimize downtime
  • Monitor and improve equipment reliability and overall plant performance
  • Enforce safety policies, procedures, and regulatory compliance
  • Conduct routine inspections of equipment and facilities
  • Maintain accurate maintenance records, work orders, and inventory
  • Coordinate with production and other departments to align maintenance schedules
  • Manage spare parts inventory and control maintenance costs
  • Assist in capital projects, equipment installations, and upgrades
  • Identify root causes of failures and implement corrective actions
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives (lean manufacturing, TPM, etc.)
  • Perform other duties as assigned by management.


Professional Skills, Qualifications, and Competencies

Education and Experience

High school diploma or GED required; technical degree or certification preferred.

5+ years of maintenance experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment.

3+ years of leadership or supervisory experience preferred.

Language Skills

Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal skills, including the ability to work cross-functionally with other departments.

Ability to Reason

Strong knowledge of mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems

Experience with troubleshooting and repair of industrial equipment

Computer Skills

 Knowledge and experience with: Manufacturing software/ERP, MS Office applications, including Excel and Word.

Math Skills

Ability to apply basic to intermediate mathematical concepts. 

Working knowledge of measurements, tolerances, and conversions (standard and metric systems)

Certificates/Licenses

Valid driver's license required

OSHA 10/30 preferred

Maintenance-related certifications (electrical, mechanical, PLC) a plus

Other
