    Position Summary

    The Maintenance Technician is responsible for identifying and correcting any condition affecting production, safety, and the well-being of mechanical systems, building systems, and production equipment. This role plays a critical part in keeping KDM's facility running safely, efficiently, and with minimal disruption to the production schedule.

    Key Responsibilities

    Preventative & Routine Maintenance

    • Complete all scheduled preventative maintenance tasks, including ampere, voltage, and resistance checks; lubrication; drive component adjustments; bearing checks; belt inspection and replacement; and fluid level checks.
    • Clean equipment and surrounding areas as part of routine maintenance procedures.
    • Maintain lighting in all areas of the facility.
    • Conduct monthly inspections of fire and safety systems.
    • Maintain the physical structure and appearance of the building.
    • Maintain order and cleanliness in all storage and mechanical areas throughout the facility.

    Equipment Monitoring & Repair

    • Identify and address conditions affecting production, safety, and the well-being of mechanical systems, building systems, and production equipment.
    • Perform general maintenance, emergency repairs, equipment monitoring and operation, special projects, and technical development.
    • Manage warranty tracking, follow-up, and repairs on all systems.
    • Investigate mechanical systems and controls to identify opportunities to limit energy consumption.
    • Advise the Maintenance Manager of any apparent or developing equipment problems.

    Operations & Compliance

    • Perform all work with minimum disruption to the production schedule.
    • Record equipment and operational checks and document any operational changes made.
    • Adhere to all safety, PPE, and 6S standards and procedures.
    • Report any impending supply or material shortages to the manager promptly.
    • Return tools and unused supplies to their proper places after each task.
    • Perform and complete all other work duties as assigned.
    Qualifications

    Required

    • High School diploma or GED, plus five years of related maintenance experience and/or training; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
    • Ability to read schematics and blueprints; working knowledge of PLCs, production equipment, and electrical circuit troubleshooting.
    • Ability to read and comprehend instructions, correspondence, and memos; ability to communicate effectively in one-on-one and small group settings.
    • Basic math skills including counting, adding, subtracting, multiplying, and dividing using whole numbers, fractions, and decimals.
    • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed written and verbal instructions and resolve problems in standard situations.

    Preferred

    • Experience in a manufacturing or production environment.
    • Familiarity with print, packaging, or POP/display production equipment.

    Physical Demands

    • Regularly required to stand, walk, and use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects; reach with hands and arms; and talk and hear.
    • Regularly required to stoop, kneel, or crouch.
    • Must regularly lift and/or move up to 20 pounds; occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
    • Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, and the ability to adjust focus.

    Work Environment

    • Regularly exposed to fumes, hazardous chemicals, and heat while performing the duties of this job.
    • Exposure to extreme heat and cold temperatures can occur daily.
    • Noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud.
    • Required personal protective equipment (PPE) will be provided.
