Manufacturing Manager
Location: Shelton, CT
Type: Direct Hire (Onsite)
Compensation
  • Base Salary: Up to $150,000 DOE
  • Total Target Compensation: Approximately $185,000–$190,000 annually
    • Annual Christmas Bonus
    • Annual Profit Sharing Bonus
    • Historically, the two bonuses combined have averaged approximately 24% of base salary (roughly 12% each), based on company performance.

Position Overview
We are seeking a hands-on Manufacturing Manager to lead daily operations in a fast-paced metal fabrication environment. This individual will oversee production, maintenance, production control, and shipping while driving safety, quality, delivery, and operational performance.
This is an outstanding opportunity for a leader who enjoys being on the shop floor, developing people, solving problems, and improving manufacturing processes. Key Responsibilities
  • Lead all day-to-day manufacturing operations including production, maintenance, production control, and shipping/receiving.
  • Drive production performance to meet customer schedules, quality standards, and delivery commitments.
  • Establish, monitor, and improve KPIs focused on safety, quality, delivery, productivity, and cost.
  • Lead Lean Manufacturing and continuous improvement initiatives to improve throughput and reduce waste.
  • Improve manufacturing efficiency through process improvements, labor optimization, and cost reduction.
  • Manage production scheduling, staffing, and capacity planning to support business growth.
  • Hire, coach, mentor, and develop supervisors and manufacturing employees.
  • Partner with Engineering, Quality, Supply Chain, and Planning to improve manufacturing processes and product flow.
  • Ensure compliance with company safety policies and manufacturing standards.
  • Resolve production challenges while maintaining customer commitments.
  • Promote accountability, teamwork, and a positive manufacturing culture.
  • Assist with capital equipment planning and implementation of new manufacturing technologies.
  • Participate in operational planning and leadership meetings.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, Business, or a related field preferred.
  • 5+ years of Manufacturing Management experience in a metal fabrication, machining, or machine shop environment.
  • Experience leading manufacturing organizations of approximately 50–100+ employees.
  • Strong hands-on leadership style with a visible presence on the production floor.
  • Experience with sheet metal fabrication including:
    • Laser Cutting
    • Punching
    • Forming
    • Press Brake Operations
  • Experience with machining operations including:
    • CNC Machining
    • Milling
    • Turning
    • 3, 4, or 5-Axis machining is a plus
  • Familiarity with welding processes (MIG/TIG), finishing, coating, and mechanical assembly.
  • Strong understanding of quality systems, inspection methods, blueprint reading, weld symbols, and GD&T.
  • Experience managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
  • Strong leadership, communication, organization, and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience leading multi-shift manufacturing operations is a plus.
