Manufacturing Methods Engineer (Aerospace APQP)

The mission

Under minimal supervision, be the technical focal for assigned projects and ensure every manufacturing step meets customer specifications and internal standards—on time and on cost.

What success looks like

• Flawless translation of drawings/specs into APQP/AQP-aligned documentation and crystal-clear Visual Work Instructions (VWI).
• Accurate operation times and well-structured Work Combination Sheets (WCS) that guide detail parts, sub-assemblies, and top assemblies.
• Right-sized equipment, tooling plans, and cellular manufacturing concepts that remove waste and meet cost targets.
• New manufacturing and tooling concepts that improve capability and throughput; effective coordination/support of tooling design for manufacturing/assembly.
• Validated processes that satisfy customer procurement specs and internal requirements; thorough support of planning document releases.
• Effective liaison work with Senior Aerospace SSP and customer cognizant engineering.
• Supplier processes developed and corrected swiftly; NPIs launched with strong initial manufacturing cycles and rigorous follow-up on effectiveness.
• Production Support Team issues resolved via disciplined Root Cause and Preventive Actions.
• Process mastery across machining, forming, stamping, heat treating, and chemical processing for Titanium, Inconel, Aluminum, Stainless Steel, and O1/D2 steels.
• Complete documentation and implementation of engineering changes; insightful recommendations on product, tooling, and process improvements.
• Timely, data-driven inputs to estimating and quoting; concise reports that spotlight improvement opportunities; leadership in multi-discipline cost-reduction initiatives.

The Manufacturing Manager aligns your responsibilities to your strengths and reviews them at least annually (or when org changes occur). You’ll also help plan and execute operational policies and procedures across manufacturing areas.

Background that fits

• BS in Mechanical or related Engineering with 3+ years of engineering experience (aerospace preferred), or MS with 2+ years in aerospace.
• Experience in fast-paced production; knowledge of sheet metal processes (welding, forming, NDT), GD&T, and aerospace materials preferred.

• Reasoning: Follow detailed written/oral instructions and tackle problems with many concrete variables in standardized situations.
• Math: Skilled with averages, summations, standard deviations, statistical trends, proportions, and percentages.
• Other: Outstanding problem-solver; effective independently and on teams; familiarity with aircraft ECS ducting preferred; practical understanding of forming, welding, machining, heat treating; basic NDT and GD&T; working knowledge of MRP/ERP requirements and order generation logic.
