    Description

    Manufacturing Occupational Safety Coordinator

Step into a role where your vigilance keeps people safe and production moving. As our Manufacturing Occupational Safety Coordinator, you will shape the daily rhythm of safety on the plant floor—coaching teammates, refining processes, and ensuring our operations align with OSHA standards and company policies.

    A day in this role

You lace up your PPE and start with a purposeful walk-through of the production floor. You talk with operators about safe work practices, spot potential ergonomic strains, and note any hazard controls that need attention. Mid-morning, you lead a new hire safety orientation, then review recent near-miss reports to launch root-cause analysis and close out corrective actions. In the afternoon, you update required OSHA records, partner with Engineering and Maintenance on a machine-guarding fix, and run an evacuation drill with the safety committee. Before you wrap, you post the latest safety metrics and confirm training logs are complete.

    Core responsibilities

    • Champion and help enforce workplace safety policies, procedures, and programs across the facility
    • Conduct routine facility inspections, highlighting and mitigating hazards before they lead to incidents
    • Investigate incidents, injuries, and near misses; support root-cause analysis and implement corrective and preventive actions
    • Assist with OSHA General Industry compliance and maintain all required safety documentation
    • Coordinate and deliver safety onboarding for new employees and provide ongoing training for the workforce
    • Coach teams on PPE use and safe work techniques; verify compliance on the floor
    • Perform ergonomic assessments and recommend improvements to minimize strain and injury
    • Work with supervisors to identify hazards and ensure corrective measures are put in place
    • Keep accurate records: inspections, corrective action logs, trainings, and other safety documentation
    • Support emergency preparedness, evacuation drills, and safety committee initiatives
    • Track and communicate safety metrics, including incidents, near misses, and action closure
    • Partner with Production, Engineering, Facilities, Human Resources, and Maintenance to foster a proactive safety culture
    • Assist with workers’ compensation investigations and return-to-work coordination as needed
    • Stay current on OSHA 29 CFR 1910 and industry best practices to drive continual improvement
    • Perform other safety-related duties as assigned

    Qualifications

    • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Occupational/Industrial Safety, Human Resources, Manufacturing, or a related discipline preferred
    • 2+ years in a safety function within manufacturing, distribution, warehousing, logistics, or similar industrial settings preferred
    • Practical knowledge of OSHA General Industry (29 CFR 1910) requirements
    • Proven experience conducting safety inspections and investigating incidents or near misses
    • Clear, confident communicator able to coach employees and frontline leaders in safe work practices
    • Strong organization and recordkeeping skills
    • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite
    • OSHA 30 preferred (or willingness to obtain after hire)
    • CPR/First Aid certification preferred
    • Ability to frequently walk the production floor and lift up to 25 pounds
