We are seeking a Manufacturing Operator to support multiple production areas within a heavy industrial manufacturing facility. This role will float across departments such as Hydraulic Molding, Casting, Finishing, and Kiln Operations, performing hands-on production tasks while ensuring safety, quality, and efficiency.
This position is ideal for candidates with mechanical aptitude who are comfortable working with machinery, tools, and physical processes in a manufacturing environment.
The Manufacturing Operator may be assigned to one or more of the following areas based on production needs:
Operate hydraulic presses and molding equipment to compact material into finished shapes
Form basic products such as plates, batts, saggers, rings, and bricks
Follow shop orders, blueprints, and work instructions
Assemble molds and pour material to cast large or complex products
Stage molds for drying and assist with casting preparation
Support both product and process development initiatives
Set up and operate machines or use hand tools for high-volume finishing operations
Perform grinding, cutting to dimension, dressing, speed testing, and light sandblasting
Handle products ranging from initial shaping through final finishing
Prepare racks, platforms, kiln cards, and kiln cars for firing
Stack products in specified patterns for loading into kilns, ovens, or furnaces
Remove products after firing and assist with unloading operations
Follow all safety policies and procedures at all times
Read and interpret blueprints, shop orders, and production documentation
Measure products using calipers, micrometers, measuring tapes, and other tools
Complete required production and quality documentation accurately
Maintain clean, organized, and safe work areas
Wear required personal protective equipment (PPE)
High school diploma or GED required (or equivalent experience)
1–2 years of manufacturing or industrial experience preferred (entry-level candidates considered)
General manufacturing skills including:
Blueprint reading
Intermediate math skills (standard and metric measurements)
Use of measuring devices (calipers, micrometers, tapes, gauges)
Basic computer skills
Ability to become proficient and work independently within approximately 3 months
Physical Demands
Ability to repetitively lift and/or move up to 50 lbs unassisted
Frequent standing, walking, reaching, handling, and use of hands
Occasional sitting, climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling
Mental & Visual Demands
Close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception
Ability to adjust focus and maintain attention to detail
Manufacturing environment with exposure to moving mechanical parts
Occasional exposure to heat, fumes, or airborne dust
Moderate noise levels
Various PPE may be required, including:
Safety glasses
Hearing protection
Gloves
Respirators or dust masks
Hard hats (as required)
Steel-toed safety shoes (employee-provided)
