JOB OVERVIEW
The Manufacturing Process Engineer improves and optimizes manufacturing processes to support efficiency, quality, and operational growth. This role works closely with all manufacturing functions to enhance production performance, introduce improved methods, and drive continuous improvement. The Manufacturing Process Engineer creates and maintains accurate production plans, schedules, and capacity strategies within the ERP system. This position ensures production workflows align with customer demand, material availability, and equipment capabilities while promoting strong cross‑functional communication.
ROLE + RESPONSIBILITIES (includes but not limited to)
- Ensures the production of quality parts through processes, fixtures, and tools meeting customer specifications and expectations.
- Provide training on ERP functionality, BOM development, planning standards, scheduling methods and best practices.
- Oversee the layout of equipment, workflow, and work force utilization.
- Works closely with manufacturing routings and material flow methods.
- Works with internal personnel to resolve production issues, both cost and quality related.
- Oversee the creation of new part numbers, bills of material, and production routings.
- Review and approve updates to BOMs and routings related to engineering changes, product improvements, or corrective actions.
- Develop standard work for set-up and visual management work instructions.
- Serve as the primary point of contact between the BOM/Production Planning team and Project Management, Estimating, Purchasing and Operations.
- Participate in production meetings and contribute to planning, scheduling, and workflow discussions.
- Develop long‑term production planning strategies to support company growth, capacity expansion, and operational goals.
- Collaborate with Engineering on new product introductions, ensuring planning readiness and capacity alignment.
- Understands a high level of all functional areas of manufacturing processes and brings forth ideas for process improvement according to company objectives.
- Identify current state work center capacity bottlenecks within manufacturing and assist in developing plans to realize future state demand.
- Ensures Engineering Change Notices are being managed properly.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree in industrial or manufacturing engineering or related field preferred
- 5+ years previous process engineering experience required
- Knowledge of AutoCAD, PDM, and SolidWorks desired
- Proven experience leading successful process improvement projects
- Familiar with fabrication nesting processes, methods, and programming
- Sheet metal fabricating, powder paint finishing, and assembly experience
- Thorough understanding of material flow methods (push/pull systems)
- Self-starter, able to work without supervision and commitment to producing highly accurate product in all areas
- Lean or six sigma training, experience, or certification a plus
- Critical thinking, logic, and reasoning to troubleshoot and solve problems
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills and strong willingness to collaborate with other departments
- Experience with setting up item master’s within ERP preferred
