Manufacturing Process Engineer

What You'll Do

As a Manufacturing Engineer II, you will play a key role in supporting production operations, driving continuous improvement initiatives, and leading capital equipment projects. Your responsibilities will include:

Manufacturing Process Support

• Monitor daily manufacturing operations and respond to process performance issues.
• Develop, document, and maintain work instructions, process flows, routings, and standard work.
• Analyze production metrics including scrap, rework, cycle time, downtime, and throughput to identify improvement opportunities.
• Implement process changes that improve safety, quality, productivity, and operational efficiency.
• Support new product introductions through process setup, trials, and documentation.

Continuous Improvement & Problem Solving

• Lead and participate in Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, Kaizen, and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Conduct root cause analyses and implement effective corrective and preventive actions.
• Identify and eliminate waste, reduce scrap, improve labor utilization, and lower material costs.
• Monitor improvement metrics and ensure sustained performance gains.
• Provide operator training and update documentation to maintain process improvements.

Capital Projects & Equipment Implementation

• Lead capital project activities, including equipment selection, justification, installation, startup, and commissioning.
• Develop capital expenditure requests, ROI analyses, and technical specifications.
• Coordinate cross-functional efforts with Operations, Maintenance, Quality, and external vendors.
• Support equipment validation, capability studies, acceptance testing, and performance verification.
• Ensure documentation and standard work are updated following implementation.

Required Skills & Abilities

• Strong commercial awareness with the ability to align manufacturing improvements to business objectives.
• Proven ability to analyze and optimize manufacturing processes using production data and performance metrics.
• Experience creating and maintaining work instructions, standard work, and process documentation.
• Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma principles, and root cause analysis methodologies.
• Ability to support capital equipment installation, commissioning, validation, and process implementation.
• Strong troubleshooting skills related to manufacturing processes, equipment, and quality systems.
• Exceptional organizational skills, problem-solving abilities, and attention to detail.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to collaborate across departments.
• Ability to work in a hands-on manufacturing environment and provide occasional off-shift support.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.
• 4-7 years of hands-on manufacturing or process engineering experience in a production environment.
• Demonstrated success analyzing, improving, and sustaining manufacturing processes independently.
• Strong understanding of process capability, cycle time analysis, efficiency improvement, and scrap reduction.
• Experience developing and maintaining manufacturing documentation and standard work.
• Experience supporting capital equipment projects, installations, and process validation activities.
• Advanced root cause analysis and problem-solving experience.
• Ability to interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and manufacturing data.
• Strong collaboration skills with Operations, Quality, Maintenance, and Supply Chain teams.
• Flexibility to work extended hours or off-shift schedules when necessary to support production and capital projects.
