We are seeking an experienced Process Engineer – Metal Finishing / Powder Coating to develop production processes for a growing metal finishing manufacturer serving aerospace, defense, military, medical, and commercial customers. This Process Engineer – Metal Finishing / Powder Coating will take new projects from technical requirements and estimating through process development, material sourcing, and production. Must Haves
5+ years of experience within metal finishing, industrial coatings, liquid painting, powder coating, or a closely related manufacturing environment.
Strong technical understanding of painting/coating processes for metal and/or plastic components.
Experience developing manufacturing processes and translating customer specifications into practical production requirements.
Minimum 2 years of technical college education; equivalent relevant technical experience will be considered.
Strong problem-solving, analytical, communication, and organizational skills with the ability to manage projects independently.
What You'll Be Doing
Develop and optimize liquid painting, powder coating, and metal finishing processes for new and existing production jobs.
Review customer drawings, finishing requirements, MIL Specs, and technical specifications to determine appropriate production processes and provide job estimates.
Create detailed shop routers and production instructions covering surface preparation, masking, coating, curing, inspection, and other process requirements.
Source specialty paints, coatings, and materials required to meet customer and application specifications.
Partner with Production and Office teams while communicating directly with customers to resolve technical questions and successfully move projects into production.
Nice to Haves
Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, Materials Science, or a related technical discipline.
Experience interpreting MIL Specs and other aerospace, defense, or military finishing requirements.
Knowledge of NADCAP and/or ISO quality environments.
Experience estimating new jobs, developing shop routers, and sourcing specialty coating materials.
Background supporting aerospace, defense, military, medical, or other highly regulated component manufacturing.
