Position Title: Manufacturing/Process Engineering Intern
Department: Engineering
Reports to: Senior Engineers
Wage Range: $27 per hour

Position Overview:

The Manufacturing/Process Engineering Intern will gain hands-on experience in manufacturing and process engineering by supporting various roles within the department. The intern will work closely with Senior Engineers and other members of the engineering team to analyze, troubleshoot, and optimize manufacturing processes, assist with process improvements, and ensure compliance with quality and safety standards.

Responsibilities Include:

Process Support

  • Learn the basics of manufacturing through participation in different roles, such as:

    • SMT (Surface-Mount Technology) Machine Operator: Trolley Load and Machine Operation

    • Selective Solder Operator: Component Preparation, Assembly, and Machine Operation

  • Job shadowing across various functions, including:

    • Process Technicians

    • Documentation Technicians

    • Manufacturing/Process Engineering

  • Provide support to production teams by assisting with product-related challenges and issues.

  • Assist with process improvements within assigned areas of expertise, including identifying opportunities for optimization.

  • Analyze process data to develop achievable process improvement goals and recommend actions for continuous improvement projects.

  • Ensure processes comply with SFE and customer quality systems, industry standards, and best practices.

  • Apply creative problem-solving techniques to address process and product-related challenges.

Systems & Tools:

  • Use software tools to conduct root cause analysis, trend analysis, and investigation of various issues affecting production.

General Responsibilities:

  • Apply continuous improvement principles to seek opportunities for reducing waste and optimizing processes.

  • Follow safety, ESD (Electrostatic Discharge), and general shop floor guidelines to ensure safe and efficient operations.
