Manufacturing Production Planner — Pipe Fabrication

Location: Grand Prairie, TX

Reports to: Director of Production Planning and Scheduling

Day in the life

When you start your day, you’ll open the scheduling platform and ERP, review overnight progress from the shop floor, and reshape the production plan so it reflects reality in real time. A mid-morning huddle with production supervisors helps you confirm status, surface constraints, and fine-tune sequencing to reduce downtime and keep workflow smooth. You’ll touch base with Purchasing to validate material availability, incorporate procurement lead times, and weave supply constraints into the plan. Throughout the day, you’ll align with Project Managers to build and maintain project baseline schedules, and you’ll execute directives set by the Director of Production Planning and Scheduling—communicating updates, risks, and changes to all stakeholders as they arise.

What you’ll own

• Create, update, and maintain detailed manufacturing schedules within company scheduling tools and the ERP.
• Plan and establish production schedules that meet customer demand commitments.
• Partner with Project Managers to develop and sustain baseline project schedules.
• Carry out scheduling priorities and directives provided by the Director of Production Planning and Scheduling.
• Coordinate with production supervisors to monitor progress, resolve constraints, and ensure alignment across shifts.
• Work with Purchasing to track material status, factoring in lead times and any supply limitations.
• Continuously monitor shop-floor status and revise schedules to reflect real-time changes.
• Sequence operations to optimize throughput, minimize changeovers and downtime, and boost overall plant efficiency.
• Support the Director by highlighting bottlenecks, capacity limits, and opportunities for process improvement.
• Maintain accurate data and reporting inside ERP and scheduling systems.
• Communicate schedule changes, impacts, and risks clearly to the Director and relevant stakeholders.
• Contribute to both short-range and long-range production planning.

About the work

This role is embedded in pipe manufacturing and intersects with water/wastewater infrastructure products. You’ll apply proven scheduling techniques and resource-loading methods (Microsoft Project or Primavera P6) to juggle multiple concurrent projects while safeguarding data accuracy and delivery commitments.

What you bring

• 2–5+ years in production scheduling or manufacturing planning (heavy manufacturing preferred).
• Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering or a related field (preferred).
• Background in pipe manufacturing or water/wastewater infrastructure products (a plus).
• Hands-on experience with Microsoft Project or Primavera (P6), including resource loading.
• Strong command of scheduling principles; proven ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
• Advanced computer skills, especially Microsoft Excel and Word.
• Ability to evaluate schedules and proposed changes and determine project impacts.
• Clear, concise communication skills—both verbal and written.
