This is a hands-on, working supervisor role, not a desk job. We need someone who runs the floor by being on the floor: building product alongside the team, stepping into any station when we're short-staffed, and training new hires by doing the job with them. This role also takes the day-to-day floor management off our Manufacturing Engineer so she can focus on process and fixture work.
What you'll do
Work the line yourself. Assemble, test, and pack product side by side with the team, not just from the sidelines
Step in and cover any station when we're short-staffed or ramping:
Core: circuit board programming, testing, and assembly into housing
Battery: battery-to-protection-circuit-board soldering, enclosure assembly, and test
Charger: charger circuit board assembly to charge case enclosure, and test
Mechanical Assembly
Kitting
Train new hires by doing the job with them, not just describing it
Run the daily schedule across all stations
Hire, manage, and coach production technicians
Track output, yield, and downtime, and report status to leadership
Enforce safety rules, especially around lithium batteries and soldering
Work with the Manufacturing Engineer and Quality Inspector to fix problems on the line
Own the training plan and keep certifications current (ESD handling, solder certification, battery safety)
What you need
Required
3 or more years of hands-on experience in an assembly or production role, including some time spent supervising others. This is not a background of management alone
Willing and able to physically do the assembly, solder, and test work yourself, every day, not just direct it
Experience managing hourly staff, including hiring, scheduling, and coaching
Comfortable reading and enforcing written procedures (SOPs)
Clear, direct communicator who can solve problems on the spot
High volume production experience with the ability to fill any production role on the line
Microelectronics soldering experience
Willing to complete and maintain certifications: ESD handling, solder certification, lithium battery safety
Strongly preferred
Direct experience configuring and using MRP or manufacturing order management systems
Epoxy potting process experience
Printed circuit board assembly In Circuit Test (ICT) process experience
Pick-pack-ship hands-on experience
GMP and Lean Manufacturing experience
A plus
Experience with new-product introduction or small-batch production
