Job Title: Manufacturing Production Supervisor
Location: Katy, TX 77494
Duration: 12 months
Pay range: $39.00 - $42.00 per hour
Description:
  • The Manufacturing Production Supervisor is responsible for monitoring, maintaining, and controlling direct functions within the manufacturing shop, in addition to managing and coordinating process improvement projects.
  • Trains or coaches’ employees on administrative or technical processes and procedures.
  • Ensures the safety of employees.
  • Ensures that workers have the necessary equipment and prints to perform their duties.
  • Resolves production issues and escalates those that require management attention.
  • Educates employees on quality standards and procedures.
  • Develop work instructions and procedures for manufacturing processes.
  • Conduct performance review and formal performance/career development discussions with direct reports.
  • Use the guiding principles and tools of the Manufacturing System to drive continuous improvement, wherever applicable.
Supervisors are required to work overtime as part of the role.
Contractors are eligible for bonuses related to weekend coverage.
Upon full-time conversion, supervisors are eligible for additional incentives/benefits.
Initial contract period expected to be approximately 90 days, with the intention to convert to full-time based on performance and business need.

Shift / Hours / Rotation
First Shift:
Supervisor coverage may require:
4:00 AM - 2:00 PM

Second Shift:
Supervisor coverage may require:
2:00 PM - Midnight
Occasionally up to 2:00 AM

Weekend Rotation
Supervisors are required to participate in a rotating weekend coverage schedule.

Key Responsibilities
People Leadership
Supervise approximately 10-15 direct reports.
Monitor employee attendance and timekeeping.
Coach and train employees on procedures and expectations.
Conduct performance management activities.
De-escalate employee concerns and workplace conflicts.
Lead teams within a union manufacturing environment.

Production Oversight
Ensure production schedules and objectives are met.
Monitor shop floor activities.
Ensure employees have required equipment, documentation, and work instructions.

Troubleshooting & Escalation
Learn products and manufacturing processes sufficiently to support troubleshooting efforts.
Escalate production, quality, planning, supply chain, and operational concerns to appropriate departments.

Safety & Quality
Promote and enforce safety requirements.
Ensure compliance with quality standards and procedures.
Maintain a safe working environment.

Continuous Improvement
Support process improvements.
Assist with development and maintenance of work instructions and procedures.

Experience & Skills
Required Experience
Minimum 3 years of supervisory experience in a manufacturing or production environment.

Highly Desired
Prior experience supervising within a union environment.

Education Requirements
Minimum
High school diploma or equivalent.

Alternative Qualifications
Candidates with a bachelor's degree and slightly less supervisory experience may be considered.
Manufacturing Environment

Products
Elastomer manufacturing operation.
Production includes numerous product lines and part numbers.

Production Style
Mixed manufacturing environment.
More focused on product variety rather than high-volume production.

Equipment
More than 20 pieces of production equipment within the area.
Supervisors are not required to operate equipment.
Equipment knowledge is developed through training and experience.

Safety Requirements
Supervisors are responsible for promoting safe work practices.
Full PPE is required while on the production floor.
Monitoring employee compliance with safety procedures is expected.
