    PRODUCTION SUPERVISOR

    Location: Oneida, New York

    Base Salary Range: $60,405-$75,000 annually

    International Wire Group (IWG) is seeking an experienced, hands-on Production Supervisor to join our manufacturing team in Oneida, New York.

    This is an exciting opportunity for a people-focused manufacturing leader who is passionate about safety, employee development, operational excellence, and continuous improvement. The Production Supervisor will lead daily production activities, coach and develop employees, coordinate workflow, resolve operational challenges, and ensure the assigned department consistently meets its safety, quality, delivery, productivity, cost, and inventory goals.

    POSITION SUMMARY

    The Production Supervisor directs and supervises daily production operations for the assigned department and shift. This position provides clear direction to production employees, organizes workflow, monitors performance, supports equipment reliability, and ensures work is completed safely, efficiently, and according to customer and company requirements.

    The Production Supervisor works closely with the Plant Manager and other departments to meet production objectives, address operational concerns, develop employees, and identify opportunities to improve safety, quality, delivery, productivity, cost, and inventory performance.

    KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

    Leadership and Employee Development

    • Lead, coach, motivate, and develop production employees on the assigned shift.
    • Communicate job expectations and provide employees with clear, consistent direction.
    • Assign responsibilities, organize workflow, and prepare daily production schedules.
    • Conduct shift meetings focused on safety, quality, delivery, productivity, cost, and inventory.
    • Monitor employee performance and provide timely feedback, coaching, recognition, and corrective action when necessary.
    • Promote employee engagement, teamwork, accountability, and ownership.
    • Ensure new and current employees receive the appropriate training, work instructions, tools, and certifications to perform their jobs successfully.
    • Build trust by leading with integrity, consistency, professionalism, and respect.
    • Partner with Human Resources and plant leadership on employee relations, attendance, performance, and development matters.

    Production and Operational Performance

    • Direct and supervise production operations to meet or exceed department and plant objectives.
    • Coordinate production activities with the Plant Manager, maintenance, quality, scheduling, shipping, and other departments.
    • Monitor production output and verify that products meet specifications, work-order requirements, and customer expectations.
    • Follow Leader Standard Work and established daily schedules.
    • Review production priorities and make staffing or workflow adjustments based on operational needs.
    • Identify production issues, bottlenecks, and inefficiencies and recommend appropriate solutions.
    • Support customer requirements and help identify and eliminate the root causes of defective products.
    • Maintain accurate production, staffing, quality, downtime, and performance records.
    • Prepare and submit reports on production results, progress, and operational concerns.
    • Support the effective use of materials, labor, equipment, and other plant resources.

    Safety and Compliance

    • Promote a safety-first culture and ensure employees follow all company safety policies, procedures, and work practices.
    • Conduct routine safety discussions and reinforce safe equipment operation.
    • Address unsafe behaviors or conditions immediately and escalate concerns when appropriate.
    • Ensure employees use the required personal protective equipment.
    • Participate in incident investigations, corrective actions, and safety improvement initiatives.
    • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe production environment.
    • Ensure compliance with applicable company, environmental, quality, and regulatory standards.

    Quality and Continuous Improvement

    • Ensure production activities meet established quality requirements and customer specifications.
    • Work with Quality and Operations teams to investigate defects, determine root causes, and implement corrective actions.
    • Support Lean Manufacturing, continuous improvement, waste reduction, and process improvement initiatives.
    • Encourage employees to identify and share opportunities to improve safety, quality, reliability, and productivity.
    • Monitor processes and recommend improvements to equipment, workflow, training, or procedures.
    • Help develop a culture of continuous learning, problem-solving, and operational excellence.

    Equipment and Maintenance Coordination

    • Ensure employees operate manufacturing equipment safely and correctly.
    • Coordinate with Maintenance to support preventive maintenance, equipment repairs, and production uptime.
    • Report equipment concerns promptly and help prioritize repairs based on safety and production needs.
    • Confirm that required inspections, checks, and maintenance-related documentation are completed.
    • Support troubleshooting efforts and help minimize unplanned downtime.

    QUALIFICATIONS

    Required Qualifications

    • High school diploma or equivalent.
    • Previous experience as a Production Supervisor, Manufacturing Supervisor, Shift Supervisor, Team Lead, or similar manufacturing leadership role.
    • Experience working with manufacturing machinery, production equipment, and industrial tools.
    • Demonstrated ability to supervise, coach, train, and hold employees accountable.
    • Strong organizational, time-management, and prioritization skills.
    • Ability to manage multiple time-sensitive responsibilities in a fast-paced environment.
    • Strong problem-solving, decision-making, and analytical skills.
    • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
    • Strong computer skills, including proficiency with Microsoft Office.
    • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
    • Strong record of safety, quality, attendance, and reliability.
    • Positive, professional, and solutions-oriented leadership style.

    Preferred Qualifications

    • Associate or bachelor’s degree in manufacturing, engineering, operations management, business, or a related technical field.
    • One to three or more years of supervisory experience in a manufacturing environment.
    • Experience in wire manufacturing, metals manufacturing, copper processing, drawing, bunching, stranding, cabling, or a related industrial environment.
    • Experience implementing Lean Manufacturing or continuous improvement principles.
    • Familiarity with production planning, scheduling, inventory, ERP, or manufacturing management systems.
    • Experience supporting root-cause analysis, corrective actions, preventive maintenance, and process improvement.
    • Experience working in a union or high-volume manufacturing environment.
