Description

Manufacturing Project Engineer — CAD, Estimating & Machining

Compensation: $80,000–$85,000 per year. An additional listing also notes a range of 70,000–80,000.

Schedule: 1st Shift, Monday–Thursday, 6:00 AM–4:30 PM

Location: Rock Hill, SC

Day in the life

At 6:00 AM your day begins on the shop floor in Rock Hill, SC. Coffee in hand, you open a new project file, review customer specifications, and turn requirements into precise CAD models and technical prints. You walk a few steps to the production area to validate manufacturability with machinists and fellow engineers, then return to your desk to refine dimensions and tolerances.

By mid-morning, you’re supporting an estimate for a new job. You analyze scope, materials, and process steps, capturing assumptions and risks while balancing cost and quality. After lunch, you roll up your sleeves for hands-on work—light manual machining to validate a prototype concept—before documenting results and next steps in Microsoft Excel, drafting a brief in Word, and sharing updates via Outlook.

As the afternoon progresses, you huddle with cross‑functional teammates to streamline a setup, improve a process, and confirm the project plan. You close the day on the floor, ensuring what’s on paper translates to what’s being built. This is an engineering role where you split time between the desk and the shop and enjoy both.
